Who would welcome seeing how Bond first met Valentin Zukovsky, and how he gave him the limp?

These aren't prequels.

I'd rather they just move on. Don't look back.

Yeah, I'm not crazy about bringing in new characters from the Brosnan era. There are so many regular Fleming characters to be introduced in this new continuity that it would seem a bit silly to start bringing back non-Fleming faces from the earlier films.

Also, we already saw Bond shoot out Mr. White's kneecaps in the last film, do we want Craig's Bond's trademark to be smashed knees?

I'm thinking about that great line in GE... and how well it works with the ending in CR :cooltongue:

Exactly. Eon haven't turned the series into some join-the-dots fan-fest.

Well Zukovsky was by far my favorite supporting character of the series. He's right up there with felix for me (even though he was in far less movies) so I would welcome his return

If CASINO ROYALE had been a prequel it would have been a nice touch to see Zukovsky suffer his injury, but seeing as it's a reboot, I certainly feel it's best to move on.

Interesting idea Dave, though i wouldn't like to see another actor in the role and i have such great memories of Robbie Coltrane.
And i don't think he would be cast again.

Although I am biased (see my user name), I still don't want to see this Bond start referencing other films so soon. If it's a tasteful homage, maybe - but let's not clog up the new Bond mythology with past characters...

...even if the character is Valentin - the BEST supporting character since Kerim Bey.

It would be nice to see if the films were set as prequels, but it is a reboot. Each Bond actor had his early days during a different era. Move on - continuity is the issue here.

It's a cute idea, but that's the problem. After CR, cute ideas like that are on par with a wisecracking kid or a talking animal sidekick. No, no, no, no.

LOL - have you been reading my posts in the "This or That?" game? :cooltongue:

Interesting points from all of you. It was only a bit of fun by the way. There seem to be a few people who hate the idea of continiuty between the Bond movies, except for the continuity between CR and Bond 22, which they love? It's all a bit funny to me, I like it all the time - I loved that Judi Dench confirmed she is playing the same character as GE-DAD.

I agree they shouldn't bring back Zukovsky and i hope they don't. they need to continue the bond series like it is true and to the point.like whats happening and how bond fully became who we all know and like. so keep it real and don't bring back Zukovsky. no offence to nobody though.

It would be interesting, but I like imagining how Bond gave him the limp. I don't think bring old material back, would be a good idea. But a very interesting thought.

I love when there's continuity, but that doesn't change the fact it's almost non-existent in the first 20 movies. :cooltongue:

I loved that Judi Dench confirmed she is playing the same character as GE-DAD.

She's no authority on that. Doesn't help her case that she also said Brosnan was coming back.

Anyway, no thanks. As others have pointed out, Brosnan's Bond and Craig's Bond aren't from the same universe. No need to muddy things just for the sake of a cutesy, probably unfunny in-joke. Besides, if they'd have to recast Valentin, who was only even interesting because of Robbie Coltrane, what's the point?

The only people that worry about continuity to this extent (ie. Dench's character, prequel/sequel, codename theory) are a small niche of fans, most of whom can be found on these forums. The writers don't worry about it, the director doesn't, the producers don't, neither do the actors, or 95% of the fans.

And yet, slowly but surely, this niche of fans chase their own tails, and drive themselves insane :cooltongue:

God No. I hate the fact that Judi Dench is still M. Showing Valentine getting his limp would break the whole space-time thing. Showing Valentine getting shot by Bond 13 years after GoldenEye on James Bonds 2nd Mission by a guy that looks nothing like Broz, would just confuse ppl. And im sure the rise of drug use among Movie goers would rise 32% :cooltongue:
