I was waiting for Ms Shetty to get noticed by the Bond fans!!

She would make great Bond girl, but only if Daniel Craig's tenure resorts to Roger Moore inspired pool girls and Alan Whicker glamour. I am not knocking her at all. She is stunning in all sorts of ways and would be a welcome addition to the Bond Girl role-call. I just feel that - since CASINO ROYALE - the Bond series has moved on from what is obvious when it comes to casting, villainy and narratives. Shilpa Shetty feels like a Bond Girl from a former age.

Besides, Eon rarely (if at all) go for who the bookies say is the favourite - and rightly so.

I concur. She's pretty; but if the part was offered to her, I don't know she'd take the role. Of course, who knows if she'd get the offer?

Eon tend not to take any notice of press rumours, but are always glad they exist as it saves the publicity department hours of work. Wasn't that Clive Owen actor the bookies favourite for a long time? And looked what happened there!

Craig came into the debate quite late if I remember right, but as soon as he did, then there was no looking back. The truth is that Eon asked him, but he took his time to read the script. In the meantime the press had a field day.

I was also expecting this thread to come up, especially after Dirk Benedict mentioned she had "Bond girl" qualities on the actual show. To be honest, I have not seen much of Shilpa Shetty's work but she definitely has a glamourous element to her very close to that which Caterina Murino had in Casino Royale.

However, having been watching Celebrity Big Brother, I question whether the actual sexual bluntness that features in Bondfilms will actually interest her. Shilpa has a great sense of morality, in real life, so perhaps the exposure and some of the sex scenes in a Bond film would make her less comfortable.

Despite these reasons she may not take part, I would love to see her as a Bond girl that isn't wasted away but a character that partly reflects what we saw from Vesper Lynd.

Bookie is short for "bookmaker" A term used for guys who you place bets with, that in the past were generally are backed by the MOB, Mafia, Organized Crime, etc..., and are not nice guys to deal with when you don't pay your debts. Now most casino's in Las Vegas have their own.

If Shilpa Shetty is picked as a Bond girl you wouldn't be able to say 'boo' without stirring something up. Craig was fair game because he's English and white - so he got slapped all over the place (I thought it was disgraceful that instead of sticking up for him, the papers and media quite gleefully were the ones putting in the boot most of the time!).

Regarding Shilpa Shetty look what happened on Big Brother? Casting her now would be like walking into a minefield. But more importantly (in my opinion) although beautiful she doesn't seem to have that 'Bond girl look'.
