The price of purchase was 7 dollars for the first issue, now it has gone up to 20 odd dollars! Ridiculous!

The first issue/offer of this sort of thing is always cheap to try and hook as many people in, then #2 onwards is a wallet-emptier.

Would someone be so kind to chime in on the quality of these releases? I have been collecting the Corgi cars off and on since I was 10 years old in 1975 and would be interested in a critical analysis of this magazine and its die casts. Is it worth subsicribing to? Thank you.

The cars are surprisingly good- excellently modelled; they look exactly like the real cars (which is an improvement on Corgis!), and the quality appears to be as high as the

Actually, according to the MI6 list of what models we're getting, we'll be getting all of Bond's cars (including the DBS from OHMSS and the V8 from LTD; quite rare to get these) except the white Lotus from FYEO (and I don't think we get a road version of the TSWLM one either), which seems a bit odd considering the many versions of the DB5 we're getting (a couple of Goldfinger ones, Thunderball one, Casino Royale one..).

I can agree with comments about the high quality. Before I started teaching, I used to work in a model car shop (probably where the addiction for collecting started) and these compare quite closely to the Minichamps models - the paint quality is not quite a shiny, but the diorama and detailing make up for it - when compared to Corgi, the wire wheels of the Car Collection beat their wheels hands down, it was only from the Director's Cut range onwards that Corgi models had the correct wheels rather than generic ones - you won't be disappointed!

It's also great to see the range of small details - GB stickers, the retractable headlights are up on the Toyota 2000GT and the screens are present, the quality of the dioramas are better than pictures of them often show. It's true the figures aren't perfect, but do make a nice presentation - even though the faces aren't ideal - the costumes are correct - TWINE Z8 has black jacket and red tie, FYEO Citroen has green jacket etc and all the figures that are present in the car are there, such as Aki in the Toyota or Melina in the Citroen (the Daimler limo from TND might be interesting for that...)

The other great thing about the range is there are different licencing arrangements for magazines than direct model selling - the Ferrari licence has not been available for Corgi since 1996 and Minichamps are not holders of it either, so this is a great chance to get a full range of all cars, including Ferraris, Bentleys, Maseratis etc.

Hope that's useful for people (sorry for the essay, but I've been quite impressed as you can tell!)

Yes- funny they didn't go for a Casino version of that; they'd only need a driver, Bond and Vesper! :cooltongue:

I think it's supposed to be fortnightly - you've done well to get the Jag and Toyota, mine haven't arrived yet, they seemed to be timed randomly! The Jag has just come out in the shops, so think timing is to just get an issue ahead of shops. Don't know where mine has got to yet though...

It's an interest list. It's possible that the Rolls Royce of Cubby Broccoli will enter the series. Very special is the hovercraft of Die Another Day, a Kenworth tanker and the brand new ford Mondeo.

When I see the original list, I see a mix of the Corgi models, like the taxi of A View To A Kill, Mercedes Benz of Octopussy etc and I see the models of Johnny Lighting, like the Hispano Suiza (Moonraker), Sunbeam Aphine and more.

I hope The James Bond car Collection will be release worldwide and in Holland.

Good day Gentlemen. I have been reading through his thread with interest. I started collecting these models about 2 months ago and I am starting to build quite a collection 1 - 7 plus all 3 subscriber specials released so far.

Just a couple of things that have sprung to mind, and I do hope someone on here can help, namely;
It seems the model release order may have changed, I was expecting to see the AM DB5 from Thunderball to be issue 6 but find that it was replaced with the XKR and issue 7 (the XKR) has become the TOYOTA 2000GT. Have I missed something or am I mistaken?

I have also noticed that the subscriber LITTLE NELLIE is pilot-less whereas the ones that seem to generate from a continental source come complete with Sean Connery figure. Anyone know why?

Initially I was not going to subscribe because of the cost but find that the quality of both the car and magazine justify this expense. As such I have added a page to my MARVEL figure website (another passion of mine)to showcase these superb models. I have photographed my models and also have the permission of the MIB-MODEL seller to show his images of the vehicles that he has for sale ie not yet seen in th UK.

Speaking from experience, partwork producers often trial a series in limited regions to "test the water". My hope is that it was found to favourable and so the series will be expanded.
My website is www.marvelcustoms.co.uk if you are interested (mods - if this link is not allowed then please forgive me and delete as you see fit).
I will be adding more images as they become available but must say that the "rumoured" line-up looks VERY interesting indeed...lets hope the series continues.

Thanks
TGR

Images of issue 13 ASTON MARTIN DBS (OHMSS) and issue 14 MUSTANG MACH 1 (DAF) now available on my website.

Well cool and fingers crossed this implies the series WILL go beyond 12 issues.

Should anyone who can't get a hold of the models from the magazine, I have two cars available on eBay - the Toyota and the Thunderball DB5, still in packaging but without magazine. Search eBay using my username, 'cmtyork' and you'll find them there.

They have just started running TV ads for this collection now here in Oz (in Sydney at least), so I may mosey on down to the newsagent and buy the 1st one and check it out. What the hell, the introductory offer is only $7.95.

Looking over those images, the company producing this series really missed a bet by not making it available in the US.

I'd just like to add my tuppence worth to this thread. I picked up the OHMSS Mercury Cougar today and the detail is just fabulous. Even down to the figures of Lazenby and Rigg in the car.

I'm only collecting the OHMSS vehicles myself. The magazine is a nice bonus, but pretty limited, and largely consists of press stills. However the cars alone make the price tag worthwhile.

Can't wait for the Mercedes driven by Blofeld and with Irma Bunt hanging out of the window.

I have been getting these cars for my kids but ONLY to look at!. I subscribed online using auto debiting and everything has gone to plan so far. One minor issue with debiting dates but no big deal.

Yesterday I collected 14 and 15 from the post office ([TLD AM V8 Vantage & TND BMW750iL), but both side skis on the Vantage have broken off.

I need to investigate their return/exchange policy for this sort of thing.

BTW, how many of these cars will be released? According to the official website there are 27 issues listed on the Back Orders page but I vaguely remember reading somewhere that there were going to be about 40 of these little suckers.
