I'm excited to see how they slowly - but in a realistic and practical way - move back into the Bond formula.
Seriously. Did you really think Craig was going to go 3 films with out a single Bondian feature in the car? Would you really want that?

A Walther P99 drawer and that defibrilator aren't Bondian features?Seriously. Did you really think Craig was going to go 3 films with out a single Bondian feature in the car? Would you really want that?

I wouldn't. It would be like "we're going to have a Batman film but he will never wear his Batman costume, there will be no Wayne Manor or Batcave, no Alfred, no Batmobile, no villains, no action sequecnes, etc., etc. and we will set it in Keokuk, Iowa instead of Gotham City. We don't want to be too reliant on the formula."

Not especially Bondian. You could argue that now, since they appear in a Bond film, they they are by definition. But if I saw a character in some other film flip a switch in his car and release a drawer fitted for a gun, I would not accuse the film makers of borrowing from the Bond formula.A Walther P99 drawer and that defibrilator aren't Bondian features?Seriously. Did you really think Craig was going to go 3 films with out a single Bondian feature in the car? Would you really want that?
More to the point, it seems that from the interview neither Daniel Craig nor his interviewer think so either.

Anyway I think they should avoid the gimmicky car chase as Pierce's movies have heavily overused that.

There is a middle groud. Even a lower-middle ground. We can relax. DAD won't happen with Craig. Not in the next 2 films at least.

I'd be happy if there was no car in Bond 22. At least in Casino Royale, it wasn't the focus of yet another huge chase sequence. I do love 'em, but I also like breaks from them.
Seriously. It's just about impossible to do a really unique and thrilling car chase anymore. Even the car chases in classics like Bullitt and French Connection and modern movies like Ronin and Bourne Identity have all sorta blurred together in my mind.

TND - car chase
TWINE - no car chase
DAD - car chase
CR - no car chase
and so Bond 22 will probably have a long car chase.

I'll need to see more data to believe there is a pattern involved. But hey... since we're all just guessing anyway, your pattern is as much a reason to believe as any other.Well, I think there will be a car chase, because the pattern has been as follows:-
TND - car chase
TWINE - no car chase
DAD - car chase
CR - no car chase
and so Bond 22 will probably have a long car chase.
My guess is yes, car chase. I believe Q and a specialty car will be introduced in the next film. With a specialty car, probably comes a car chase. Although, I'd be happily surprised if a specialty car comes into play and serves as a means towards Bond's end without actually going into battle with another car.

A well-made point, though I confess I have been debating where to rig something similar in my own vehicle.A Walther P99 drawer and that defibrilator aren't Bondian features?Seriously. Did you really think Craig was going to go 3 films with out a single Bondian feature in the car? Would you really want that?

Not sure if this has been posted before, but in this interview Craig implies that gadgets will be in the next Bond film--particularly, gadgets in his car. http://www.youtube.c...E...ted&search=
Actually he stated that if the gadgets fit more or less, then they will be used, but he did comment that the Aston Martin IS the best "gadget" in itself.
I think it's more a question of using gadgets that enhance the story or move the story forward. Throwing them in for the sake of throwing them in wouldn't work.

Something like a knuckleduster Omega. Bond still has to use his skills and wits, yet it gives him a slight advantage.

There wasn't even a car chase, unless you count the tank scene.
What about the DB5/Ferrari chase?...

Touche', JameswpBond.Well he prefers the Bentley to the Rolls royce like a good James Bond should!
And like DC said: "It's an Aston Martin. What else do you need?" (Or something to that affect.) I personally like the down-to-earth approach.

I wouldn't really consider that a car chase, per se. More of a playful race than anything else; it wasn't a life-or-death situation like so many other chases. Plus, he didn't even know Xenia was a villain at the point in the movie.

But mharkin, he...he drove a BD5!!!I was really suprised that Craig didn't like the ferrari or Lamborgini but he does seem like a more old fashioned gentleman.
He's a good loyal Brit. Sticking with the home team.

I honestly can't understand anyone pulling their hair out over the notion that Bond's equipment will become more complex and fantastic in the follow-up to CASINO ROYALE. If you honestly expected requisite elements like gadgets, Q, Moneypenny, etc. to stay mothballed forever because this film succeeded with a bare bones, realistic approach, perhaps you'd be better off becoming a Jason Bourne fan.

Yes. We see Aston Martins with silenced Walthers and fly-by-wire life support systems with 24-hour medical staff (to attend to one's potential imminent death) every single day.
It's utterlly common place.
I've also seen it all over on the regular terrestrial tv shows to boot!
Plus I see an Aston Martin driving by every 2 minutes.
