Kara is one of my favorites because she is innocent and not like a tough bad
Agent (Jinx
). She was asked to do the sniper because she thought Koskov loved her. And she belived Bond that he was Koskov friend because he will bring her to him. She calls Koskov to talk to him, and plays tricks to make Bond a KGB agent. And my orchestra teacher told me that you need to be a good player, is just need to know how to play the notes and read them. Didn't Necros go through the door? Not the back hatch, or I must be wrong.
Agreed. Kara was a believable innocent doing what she thought was correct.
I agree with much 0015 has said. I too liked Kara because she wasn't "in the game", so to speak. Of course she's not wise in the ways of the inteliagence game - she's a artist for God's sake!
Yeah, falling for Yogi wasn't a smart move, but who would have known how poor a choce???
No. I never thought she was stupid. It's nice to see a Bondgirl that is a civilian, just going through life, then getting caught up in the world of Bond.
Exactly. Kara was in this way more like a character in an Alfred Hitchcock or Alfred Hitchcock-type film(think Audrey Hepburn in Stanley Donen's Hitchcock homage
Charade), i.e., an innocent tossed by circumstances into the world of espionage and international intrigue than the most typical Bond girl. That's one reason she's unique and one of my favorites.
God, no!!
Denise Richards / CHRISTMAS DRONES is far worse. KARA MILOVY is a bit dopey, but that is the character which works well and even adds unusual poignancy to THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS and the Bond series. Richards is just a poor actress and an even poorer character in THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH. She was dumped on Eon from a great studio height. The character's not even necessary to the plot. THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH would have been a far stronger film had it had the bravado to make ELEKTRA the main girl - whether or not she gets to utter the "Oh James" line as the credits roll.
Agreed there also. Looking back at
On Her Majesty's Secret Service and now at
Casino Royale,
The World is not Enough really falls short for trying something more "serious and tragic" in Bond's relationship with a woman but not having the guts to go all the way with it like CR & OHMSS did by having Dr. Christmas Jones along to give Bond a happy ending. In this respect, both
Tomorrow Never Dies and
Die Another Day are more entertaining Bond films in that they didn't really pretend to be better than they were and didn't failing to deliver what they promised as TWINE did.
