Hi,

I am an old Bond movie fan but to be honest as the years have passed I have really gotten tired of the same old Bond movie stereotype actors, plots and gadgets.

Sean Connery really pulled it off in the early days. In my opinion no one ever came close, until now that is!

My son dragged me off to see Casino Royale and I must admit, although I generally like a good action flic, I was not overly enthusiastic about going. What a pleasant surprise!

For me the old style Bond films have had their run. I really, really enjoyed the fact that CR 2006 takes a completely fresh approach to the Bond genre.

All those things that the critics are whining about are the things that make this Bond THE BEST ONE YET, in my opinion. I liked the fact that he is portrayed as human, bleeds and gets hurt like everyone else. I liked the fact that he is not portrayed as mindless humping machine pumped on vıagra, surrounded by an aura of pheromones that make any and all women swoon and want to jump into bed with him. I liked the fact that he is portrayed as a man with emotions and that he is sensitive to the emotions of others. I liked the fact that he doesn't perform SUPERHUMAN feats all the time and that he does not have gadgets that are so futuristic that they are unrealistic. And the list goes on...

All I can say to the producers is THUMBS UP! If your intention was to re-invent the character you sure did a damn good job of it!

As to Daniel - well what can I say other than that he carries the role exceptionally well and he definitely gets my vote as the best Bond ever!

I really hope that the producers realize how well they pulled the re-invention of Bond off and that there will be MANY MANY remade and new Bond films using Daniel and this approach. Personally I think it's high time that all the originals starting with Dr. No are re-done with young Daniel in the lead...

This movie definitely gets my vote!

To all those critics - PAH! Daniel Craig = Bond = yeah baby = bring it on!

It's refreshing to hear that Casino Royale is hitting the right notes with fans old and young alike.

What exactly do you mean by "pulled it off in the early days?" Pulled it off from what? There wasn't any real precedent for him to go by. He basically created the movie-Bond role. I don't think he read any of the Ian Fleming books because his characterization of James Bond is far from what the original author had in mind.

I think it was John Glen who said that every character has the privilege to interpret the James Bond character anyway they like. Connery, was the first one based on....I have no idea. (Perhaps a human, emotionless, carefree, intellectual human superhero?). Moore, basically light hearted and comedic. Dalton went back to the original Ian Fleming characterization. Brosnan seemed to more into 64% Moore 34%Connery 1%Dalton & 1% Lazenby (IMO). Craig, like Dalton, back to the original Ian Fleming characterization.

So what do you mean by "pulled it off?"

.........i think it means made a success of the films with his interpretation of the the charactor, and made it his own, when all around him had their doubts.

Like Craig now, Connery was not favourite for the role of Bond, even
initially with the creator Ian Fleming.
Most people at the time expected some sort of elegant, english gentleman
to play the role.
Even film executives were unsure of Connery, one even referred to him as
a 'limey truck driver' (a reference to his prior roll in 'Hell Drivers').

But we all know what happened........by the mid sixties Sean Connery was
the biggest film star in the world.

I still get the impression that Daniel Craig was not first choice Bond. But he has made the part so much his own that its our good fortune that others probably refused the role. Daniel Craig as James Bond IS PERFECT. No-one could have done it better!
