This, I know, goes against any official, confirmed reports of both production AND release. (I mean, lord, this could see a film out WAY sooner than November '08. It was hinted that it could be late '007 - ahem - or Feb '08.) It all seems prety unlikely to me - no director announced after the difficulties with Vaughn? - but it's what I'm hearin'.
Wanton rumor-mongering I know, sorry about that. But it left me feeling somewhat surprised and I don't see why I should suffer alone! :-)

An acquaintance of mine from CR's production team suggested that not only is the Bond 22 script finished (though I doubt that includes something like CR's dialogue and character polish by Paul Haggis), but the team HAVE got a director in place and may be ready to start up production (more likely PRE-production) in Feb/March.

If this is remotely true, and you get some insider information, please share the intelligence as soon as it is available!

Sorry - that's Matthew Vaughn, who was close to coming on board to direct Bond 22 then...well, didn't.
He's also the guy who nearly directed X3, and did direct DC in Layer Cake.
Assuming they go into pre-prod as has been discussed, say by March, that suggests a shoot in the summer. (You don't launch pre-production then send everyone home to shoot six months later - so filming must still be in '07.)
With that in mind, post-production would certainly be concluded by the first few months of 2008. And, with the film made, there seems little chance of leaving the film to be released in Autumn or winter of '08. A film on the shelf costs money to just sit there - if only in wasted publicity. With the press all over the main shoot, you can't leave the actual release too long or the attention dies back down.
Still, whatever happens it seems they HAVE lost any chance to capitalise on the '007 release year. Which is a shame, though doesn;t ACTUALLY mean much. Suspect we may see a release of something next year, though. CR on DVD, of course, but probably on Blue-Ray as well...

I expect Bond 22 to come out in November 2008, and so filming should begin in just over a year's time.

What? For real? You sure you aren't mixing him up with Michell?

Ah - entirely possible, actually. I thought they'd re-approached him, though, at some point, for 22.
Might be a rumour I picked up elsewhere rather than an actual reported fact, though!
