Being a complete Bond nut, further scrutiny of the film ensues....

Although there is, for the most part, an abscence of John Barry's James Bond Theme in Casino Royale, I believe I heard the whispers of it three times during the film. All were only a few bars long, and ever so slight.

1) When Bond wins the 1964 Aston Martin.
2) When Bond is in THE dinner jacket.
3) When Vesper saves Bonds life.

Anyone else?

:)

Please keep this thread spoiler free, guys. :P

EDIT: I moved it anyway. If we are talking only a few bars of music it'll be hard not to be specific, I guess.

Defibrillator!!??

Wish I didn't know that now.

Naturally not including the "Bond, James Bond", because I'm sure that's not what you're looking for

-After Vesper's dead, we get very somber Daltonesque Bond chords

-Again, in the Venice Bit, once Gettler starts going after Bond w/ the nail gun, another little piece of the Bond theme starts gets implemented with great results. One of my fav. parts of the movie, just on account of how the music "Bondifies" at that moment.

Yes, YKMN is well used throughout, with Theme-esque hints. Good catch deth.

It's both- the melody of YKMN is underscored with the vamp from the Bond theme there. It pops up again when Bond wins both of his poker matches both in the Bahamas and the Casino Royale. The dinner jacket scene uses the vamp also, and in the tanker sequence a slight variation on the Bond fanfare can be heard.

Yeah, you can definitely hear it there. It evolves into the YKMN theme afterwards, but it's definitely the Bond theme for a few seconds.

Yeah, I love that moment when he defeats Le Chiffre in the poker game, when he says to Leiter "He's all yours". Great use of the theme there.

Some people complain about the Bond theme not being in this movie, but it's there. Okay, so it's not the complete guitar theme with fanfare all the time but those 4 chords are enough Bond theme for me. It was used sparingly but to very good effect I think.

I agree. I've been a bit confused by all the posts indicating that the Bond theme isn't played until the end. I heard it throughout the film. Subtly, but well played.

It's also there when Bond loses at poker. I noticed it when I first saw the clip online.

Yeah...everytime I see it I'll catch a little more of it.
I like how it was used....little teasers of the theme until the end and then it's "Bond, James Bond" :)

Was it me or was there a subtle OHMSS sound to the Bond theme when he is checking himself out in the mirror? I noticed it mostly in the bass riffs.

nope..... it's actually more "A Drop in the Ocean" from YOLT

although Arnold did state that there are NO nods or winks at past Bond scores in this one....

Where is the bass riff at in "A Drop In The Ocean"? Maybe I have a different version of the track but it seems to be all brass and actiony stuff...nothing I can locate that sounds like the riff from Dinner Jackets...or maybe it's just me.
