Daniel Craig was great in CR, he is my second fav Bond but anyone can be lucky once. I do believe Craig will be good in the next film but for what I am saying is that Craig has to truly prove how good he is as Bond with the next Bond film. If he gives a wonderful performance in the next film then he truly is a great Bond. Like Christian Bale in Batman, he was great but was he lucky? With the next Batman film for example Bale will have to prove that he is not lucky but truly is great with the character by showing what direction he is taking the character and how he plays the character. Craig will have to do the same thing. In the end I think both Craig and Bale will give great performances but the point of this thread is to show how an actor perforances in a second film will make their legacy in the role. If Craig and/or Bale give bad performances then they will be remembered as lucky the first time around and will be considered wrong choices for the role. The second film will determine how great the actor is in the role. However in my opinion I do believe both will give great performances the second time around.

Agreed. Bond 22 will cement his legacy quite early in his Bond career.

It's that difficult 2nd album syndrome, if you pardon the analogy.

Yes he has gotta step up, CR's sucess needs to assure he's gonna nail it again.

Next time round though, the character has had to have developed, most of the actors have played the character the same or maybe matured in the role.

DC has to actively show a progression, he can't be the same Bond as in CR, it will have to be subtly done, he's said already you won't see the fully rounded JB yet.

Each film he does will need to show different steps in the evolution of the character.

In this way he had the hardest job of any previous actor, although getting to show these progressions will give Craig a chance to give the role more range and depth.

So many elements of this new direction just get me so pumped up for the next film and no doubt 22 will keep us on tender hooks for 23.

Agreed! For Bond 22, the studio will be back to original scripting, and thus, on their own. 007 will have had two years to 'get on with life' and endure subsequent missions. After all, he isn't going to be cryogenically freezen, is he?

Actually Bond 22 is presumed to pick up at the end of Casino Royale. So Bond would still be in the same mental state he was at the end of that film.
