Remember George Martins soundtrack Live and let die, Marvin Hamlischs The spy who loved me, Bill Contis For Your Eyes Only. All these and more including all of John Barrys you can listen to different scores in the Film Soundtrack and still know which film its from.
David Arnolds title songs hasnt been so good, the best must be Tomorrow Never Dies (which also has a great endtitle song), and the rest of the soundtracks are awful to listen to couse they are just a drumm there and a drum there when bond rices an eyebrow.
I know that composing all these songs is allot of hard work and David has done a good job but I just would like to have someting more from the soundtracks.

Someone mentions Bond and I start to hear Shirley Bassey or Tom Jones.
But this is just my opinion, to each there own.

You Know My Name can be heard in many tracks of the Casino Royale soundtrack.
yeas I have noticed that but its more like it comes and cuts in for a few seconds. It doesnt follow thrue the whole track.

I don't care for Arnold's techno stuff, but when he's "channeling" Barry (like CR and TND) he is the best composer since Mr. Barry (although Martin was very good, too).
As Arnold admits he's a fan and will write the scores as long as they ask him to, I hope he does.
And if he contines to have good 007 films to score, I think he'll do fine. Even Barry's stuff got a bit soulless and formula in his later 007 scores, when the films got sillier and more formula. You could tell he didn't really care anymore and was writing them in his sleep.
And I know this will irk some, I'm more worried about Kleinman. I loved his first couple title sequences for GE and TND, but the radical new title srequence looked more like an Anime movie than a Bond film.

Does ANYONE know how and when will the film version of YKMN be available?
If the tracklistings on the CD singles on amazon are anything to go by, it isn't looking very promising.

So the version on next month's single won't be the same as the one playing over the film's opening credits? Is it the first version that was leaked on the internet - the rawer-sounding one, slightly faster and with shoutier vocals and less orchestra? Hope so, 'cause I prefer the "original" version.
As for Arnold, I've never been a fan.... until now. His CR work is a definite cut above his earlier Bond stuff, and I'd welcome another soundtrack from him, which is something I never thought I'd write.

So, action=good, use of YKMN = good, emotional/melancholic/romantic themes = please, please stop!

Couldn't agree more. The "City of Lovers" theme that plays as their boat sails into Venice is just beautiful, and feels like classic Bond to me. It was those scenes, and the romantic scenes while Bond is recuperating, that made me go from really liking the film, to loving it; and the music played no small part in that.Actually, Skudor, it was the romantic stuff that really made me dig the CASINO ROYALE score. By far Arnold's best "romantic" stuff to date as far as the Bond franchise is concerned. As far as the action music of CASINO ROYALE, I didn't find it that exciting. Sure, "African Rundown" is fun, but the rest of it isn't all that great.
Some of the action cues, particularly the one where Bond runs through Venice, seem a bit bombastic and overcooked to me.

Talking of "African Rundown", would you agree that it seems to be the OHMSS-inspired de facto new James Bond Theme that Arnold was going on about in an interview a while back? (Sorry, forget the source so can't cite it.)
