firstly, I thought the Felix "reveal" on the stairs was brilliantly done and would have been extra satisfying if the viewer were unaware of the casting.
Personally I saw Felix

I like is take on Felix, straight from NSNA (the first black Felix). However, it doesn't help explains why Felix doesn't arrest Le Chiffre straight away after the game. I'm sure there is a reason.
my guess is so they could extract him discretely, the kind of deal they were offering (sanctury) is not something le chiffre would find to be a happy compromise (however much it would have saved his neck) so considering those circumstances and the negotiation involved, you can't likely do it in a public casino
just my theory anyway!

Surprised no one mentioned this yet. But in the script the CIA agent (he's not yet Felix) refers to himself as "A cousin from Langley." Apparently it was changed to Brother once Wright was cast.

Very cool, JimmyBond.
Well, I think JeffreyFelix's use of the term is a lot better done than the 'yo mamma' putdown of Zao by Berry's Jinx.
At least Bond doesnt go comedically ethnic like he does in TMWTGG with "I shuaa aahhhm, booyy!" when replying to Sherriff JW Pepper.
The greatest Black piece remains "Names is for toombstones...waste da muddah!"
Love it!

That's interesting. Though according to The Moneypenny Diaries: Guardian Angel, MI6 refers to the CIA as "cousins" so perhaps that was a reference. Of course, I'm not sure if this is true or something that Samantha Weinberg came up with on her own.

Wright's gonna make a great Leiter, he had a real impact with his small part in CR. Felix is given to street-level awareness, and an occasional touch of melodrama, in the books. And that's already coming across for me.
I loved some of his lines and his delivery:
300 Grand
Keep the fruit
I'm bleeding chips
does it look like we need the money?!
LOL
classic stuff
Wonder if he'll return as Felix.

Would that make Felix an "undercover brother"?

No offense, even though I think Wright did a great job, the "brotha" lines seemed like they tried to turn him into the Token black guy.
But, as I say, that assumes that a. the line was changed by the writers or producers rather than the actor, and b. that only clich

I didn't think much of it. He gets a double meaning for "A brother from Langley". Not sure whether or not that was intended as a "May I borrow your match?" kind of thing.
Would that make Felix an "undercover brother"?
And at least he didn't proclaim Bond his "brother from another mother".
But seriously, I thought the two lines worked great and came across very naturally without the hint (okay, stench) of pretentiousness that plagued so many of Halle Berry's. Still hard to believe the performances of this movie are not only part of the same series as but immediately followed those of that other one.
And the dialogue HildebrandRarity quoted is indeed some great stuff. Easily the best, funniest, and coolest Felix Leiter yet. Hope to see him return, perhaps even with a bigger part, in Bond 22 and beyond.

I really hope Wright signed up for more films, I think we might get more of a flavour of Fleming's take on the relationship between Bond & Leiter that the film havn't really touched on so much.
In LTK you can see they are very good friends but the films never showed any background of that apart from brief apperances, Wright coud be the best Leiter yet his brief appearance for me is on a par with Lord's in DN although Hedison is my fav to date probably unfairly due to being in 2 films and getting to see more of the character than you normally do in LTK.

The line was very natural, coming from Wright. It didnt come off forced. Like that line in DAD. You know the one.
Ugh, don't remind me!
I loved this line... I thought it didn't sound forced at all, and I thought it instantly set the two characters up as a friendship in the making.. Loved it

I thought it was very, ahem, ethnic. I also could not care less. Either it's his character or his cover.
Ethnic is the term that I would use as well, Skudor. And I think it was perfect delivery.

Was it just me or did Felix refer to Bond as 'brother' twice in the movie? I know he was using the 'spy-talk' of being related by the same profession. Similar to LTK and Q being Bond's Uncle. But, it seemed to be dialogue more reminiscent of Live and Let Die than a 2006 Bond film. Almost as bad as Red Grant calling him 'old man' in FRWL.
I had no problem with the "brother" lines...
And the "old man" lines from FRWL are absolutely classic!
