FORT-DE-FRANCE
MARTINIQUE

James Bond wiped his brow of the band of sweat that had accumulated due to the blistering heat of the coastal Caribbean summer. The casino was perched directly on the beach, giving a most tranquil and extraordinary view out the large glass window that dominated an entire wall of the casino. As he gazed out the window at the blood red sunset Bond couldn't help wishing he was here on leave, rather than assignment. Then he turned back to the situation at hand.

The game was baccarat chemin de fer, and Bond was damn good at it, the banker was finding out. Bond had been taking his money in considerable amounts for the majority of the evening. The croupier dealt the cards, two to each of the punters and two to the banker, and the players began to make their stakes.
