I think this is old news.
As far as the character, I don;t recall 007 slapping a woman for the fun of it. To get information, yes, but not as recreation.

Yeah the Walter's interview is from 1987, IIRC. I also seem to remember he was quoted saying something similar to that much earlier though.
He's gotten a lot of flak for it over the years.
That said, this isn't the first time I've seen his statements added to the calls of misogyny in the Bond series either...

some of the Connery movies featured recreational slaps on the buttocks, if that counts

I have always wanted to see that clip, however, there's no relevancy in a 20 year old interview about a 40+ year old quote.

It's funny....i was watching the special features of 'you only live twice' and connery before shooting a scene slaps some guy's butt....lol....so i guess he just slaps everybody....lol....even when he plays bond....
