Ive been waiting for this film for months. I love 007 films mainly for Sean Connery's James Bond. He has always been the only Bond for me.

Smooth, arrogant, chauvanistic, sexist, sexy, rough, ready - he translates exactly in the book what Bond is onto the big screen.

I love the way he says 'Pussy' in Goldfinger, the way he roughs his birds up a bit, the way he handles his gun. He was born to be Bond.

But aside from Connery I love the exotic settings, the Bond girls who get [censored]ed, chucked and often killed after a brief encounter with Bond.

I love Miss Moneypenny, the vodka martinis, the cheesy predicable dialogue and sharp one-liners. Not to mention the gadgets and Q. From a pen which fires tranquiliser darts whilst tracking villans to a fake horse which fires missiles out of its [censored].

The constant fight against Russia, communism, the cold war. The Bond villans - Scaramanga, Klebb, Jaws, Dr No, Blofeld, Goldfinger - it's all good - it's all classic Bond.

Roger Moore was good too - he made the part his own. A bit more slick than Connery and less believable as an assassin, but still a good Bond and one I grew up with.

Then they wrecked it.

I won't even mention Lazenby cos he don't count, but Dalton and Brosnan?!?!?!?! Forgettable Bonds, tired scripts, and I thought Bond had been done to death. The Bond I wanted was the one in the 1960's and he was the only one I bothered watching.

Then I saw the trailer for Casino Royale. This is the only modern day Bond i've ever wanted to see and he has totally redefined 007.

Casino Royale has been dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century. The cold war is long gone and the baddies are the kind of bad guys we can relate to. It reflects the fears and concerns western society faces today. Daniel Craig's Bond sweats, bleeds, runs his tight [censored] off, he's arrogant, sexy, and he can actually ACT! He's the best Bond since Connery if not better. Perfect casting - I cannot blow enough smoke up his [censored]!

Oh! And he gets whipped and tortured! Naked!

While he still pulls the most beautiful women, we see why he is so cool and detached. He began his career with feelings, he fell in love and was betrayed. Theres more depth there now, more layers, more story, more meat on the bones and the script makes you think more than the Bond of old.

And I'm loving this about the new Bond - scenes of bikini clad women emerging from the ocean are long gone. Now we have Daniel Craig as the eye candy. And speaking of eyes - they are either the cold steely blue eyes of a killer or gorgous piercing and bright, depending which end of the gun you're at.

The martini cocktails have stayed ("shaken or stirred?", "do I look like I give a damn?"), but the gadgets have been played down, although I could do with a defibrillator in my car glove box (and an Aston Martin come to that).

The stunts are fantastic - not much computer twattery in Casino Royale, it's mostly done with actors/stuntmen and that's for the better.

My only criticism would be that Le Chiffre wasn't all that menacing. But the bar has been raised significantly today - we are used to seeing Jack Bauer fight the most evil terrorists on the small screen and Matt Damon in the Bourne series of cinematic blockbusters. Tough competition, but it stands it's ground.

All in all - I loved it and I wanna go again! I wanna be a bond girl and I LOVE the 'James Bond' guitar chord at the end of the theme tune.
