Now on the CBn main page...

Tsai Chin & Diana Hartford from 'You Only Live Twice' and 'Thunderball,' respectively

Following up the discussion that You Only Live Twice's Tsai Chin appears in Casino Royale as Madame Wu comes another 'link' to the Bond film past.

Diane Hartford, who is listed as "Card Player #3" in the cast was previously in Thunderball as the woman Sean Connery dances with briefly at the Kiss Kiss Club.

With thanks to 'Gary' for the alert.

Which one was card player # 3? Wasn't there only one lady at the table with Bond and Le Chiffre? I always thought that the one and only lady at the poker table was Madame Wu.

There were two women, one was Tsai Chin's Madame Vu and the other was Grafin Manstein played by Veruschka.

Perhaps this "Card Player 3" was at some other table in the film (or maybe during the Bond/Dimitrios sequence instead)?

Y'know, I looked at that woman and thought there was something about her I recognised, but I couldn't place her.

Yes, it was at the card table with Dimitrios in the Bahamas. She was sat to the right of Dimitrios. Interestingly, this was the same scene where Jerry Inzerillo, the hotel tycoon, was also a card player at the table.

Wow, I never knew that. I love that scene from TB where Bond pulls the young woman up for a dance. I'll have to keep an out for her when I get the CR dvd.

I dig the "Tsai Chin" connection, but did anyone else know that her name means "Goodbye" in Mandarin?

My contribution to "Stuff that will clutter up your mind with no possible use in the future..." :)

She is the one wearing the green dress.

Also, I am sure everyone caught Richard Branson with his hands up at airport security.

That was one I missed, despite being in the know before I saw the film. It really must be 'blink and you'll miss him'.

BTW, I believe that the kid with the guitar case in the same scene is Branson junior. You can't really see his face, but I think I've read somewhere that Branson managed to get himself and his son into the movie.

It is. This makes it all the better in my opinion--cameos should be blink and miss.

Am I alone on this or did anyone else think that the big black dude at the card table looked like Whisper of LALD or, at least his son?

I'm sure there are quite a few "faces" in the movie. Second time I saw it I'm sure I saw one of the stunt men from a previous Bond film at the bar in Casino Royale.

Although I agree w/ your opinion about cameos, I couldn't help but getting a little laugh off at it. I mean, didn't Branson buy his cameo? I wonder if he felt a bit jipped after that.

As for the other cameos, I think that it's great that Campbell has given cameos to characters so obscure in the Bondiverse, even us CbNers took a bit to catch onto it. Guess it goes to show you can have cameos w/out it taking away from the movie.

Tsai Chin as Madame Wu is also a cardplayer on Le Chiffre's boat isn't she?

That guy wasn't old enough to be either character.

I even recognised the back of his head, first viewing!! That just shows you how often that bloke gets his face on TV!!!

(I also noticed a very prominent "Virgin Atlantic" plane during the Miami airport chase scene.)

Yeah, it's most likely THE one that Branson loaned to the production to help shuttle their equipment around.
