In a video interview, Craig mentioned it could be SPECTRE.
He didn't "mention that." They asked him specifically and he didn't rule it out. I would say there's a difference.
Is this video interview on the net JimmyBond? I thought maybe the organization was the password: Ellipses!
Ellipses was just a password for the security doors at Miami International. It's nothing more than that.

Isn’t it it ‘Ellipsis’ not ‘Ellipses’?
I have no idea. You're probably right. I never said I could spell. Both are words though, I think. The latter is the plural form of the former... Right?

No, he didn't.
God, it would be the greatest (2)007 news if it was SPECTRE!!!!
No. It would not.

I truly do hope the SPECTRE returns. You can't really have Ian Fleming's James Bond without Blofeld and SPECTRE. I hope if they bring Blofeld back, they make him the tall monsterous man with long grayish hair...and not the iconic cue-ball we've seen in the past. though I do love Donald Pleasents' revealing moment in YOLT.
Personal preferrence aside. Telly Savalas's protrayal of Blofeld was more gritty and down to earth. No hollowed out volcanoes (I know everyone loves a good volcano hideout, myself included), no army of faceless ninjas or uniformed SPECTRE guards. He was very hands on, breeding the bacteria, mesmerizing the girls, leading the hunt for Bond on skis himself instead of directing it from a huge stainless steel command center. Machine gunning Bond's bride Tracy instead of sending a hulking henchmen out. If they do bring back SPECTRE and Blofeld (which would thrill me to no end) the OHMSS model is quite more down-to-earth and much more in sync with new grittier 007. Just sayin'

I agree. Even though I know the first few Craig films are rebooting the series, I can't help thinking that SPECTRE arrives with the coming of Sean Connery and Dr. No. While the idea of SPECTRE is neat in theory, I think a new organization would be better.SPECTRE should stay buried. I want a new evil organization!
The Union is probably out because EON likely won't use a Raymond Benson story. My choices would be:
the Phoenix
Anaconda
Cobra
Black Mamba
the Brotherhood
Doomsday
Apocalypse
and (the) Legion

I agree that the Union is highly unlikely, as are COLD, BAST, or any variation of SPECTRE modeled after Gardner's novels. If they were going to bororw those elements, why not simply adapt the novels?

I also like that there's a personal stake in it for Bond, that seems very Fleming too IMO.
