At what point did Craig 'click' for you?

I think that was the intention, as well. The whole movie is just dripping with a fine mixture of Connery cool and Fleming grit...I dont think a better cocktail is to be had, honestly.
Did the PTS remind anybody of Connery in the vacation house waiting for (forgive me for not rememering his name) in Dr. No?
Professor Dent, and yes it was reminiscent of that. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the intention. The bathroom brawl was also reminiscent of the PTS brutal fights of Goldfinger and Thunderball
Anywho...he was Bond from the moment I saw him on screen but what solidified him in my mind was, "Yes, considerably..." I already knew the line so I just smiled a big grin while many other's lol'd at that, the first of many things Craig did that the audience loved.
I don't recall seeing much of that with the last three. In DAD I believe there was lot of response with the Cuba scenes, the wheelchair bit especially, but the rest of the film fell kinda flat. TWINE barely got a raise anywhere, IIRC. And TND had a few, notably Bond's first words and the talking car.
Casino Royale definitely has had the most reactions from it's audience I've seen in a Bond film, yet.
The audience I saw it with really responded well to the film and when the audience gets involved like that, it really enhances the experience.

At what point did he click? About ten minutes into watching Layer Cake. I thought this man would make a great Bond. And I was wrong. He made the best. Nobody did it better.
You know, I rented layer cake after he as announced. I at remember the voice over he does in the beginning, I imagined him saying Bond, James Bond. And right then I knew he would be good. But not this good...for me I think it was the valet ticket line in the movie. Up until then he was just really cool. After that, he was Bond.

The time on the train with Vesper. Where he sits and casually psychoanalyses (sic) her. He was casual, articulate and confident, and looks so cool in that suit. Craig might look rough, but he didn't act it. It had a subtle and visceral effect on me. I loved the dichotemy.
After I saw that scene any prejudices I had left completely dissipated.
What a great thread. My computer at work is having problems again accessing posts, so I can't do a search on yours, Emma. This is the first I've seen from you post the film - and how great that you feel this way about it! You were *very* vocal about his being miscast, I recall, and I'm delighted he turned it around and convinced you. I think we're pretty much all delighted right now.
For me, I was already too familiar with the pre-credits so he didn't do anything more to convince me that he was Bond. I already thought he was Bond from seeing the trailer. But that kicked up a whole other level during the title sequence, and by the end of it, when he walked towards us and we saw his face and then it became an illustration, and then his face again, and then it froze on his face and his stone-cold gaze at us... just everything about the way he walked and carried himself and then held that stare at the camera sent a shiver through me, because I thought he wasn't just Bond, but Ian Fleming's James Bond. I do think the film has flaws - but Craig's not one. The shower scene for me was the moment I thought I might be seeing not just James Bond, not just Fleming's Bond - but something more. The best performance of the character ever. Something that improves on and deepens both Connery and Fleming's visions of James Bond. Extraordinary.
Let's hope this guy sticks around for a few.

Let's hope so indeed. Fingers crossed they can get him to sign on for a couple more after he's done his contracted 3.

The Madagascar chase, Bahamas and Miami were as well, but the defining moment was after he was poisoned.
"That last hand-nearly killed me."
The FIRST pun. I love them puns.
This movie lacked puns-there could be one for Fisher, already a minor one for Dryden, and if he wasn't arrested at MIA, one for Carlos. Not one for Madagascar, becuase he had ------ it up.
