In the opening credit sequence, did anyone else besides me notice a credit in CR which read the following:

Based on the novel by IAN FLEMING

Outside of the much-litigated TB/NSNA case, this is the first time since DN that I have seen a based-on reference to an original Fleming novel in the series. Has anyone else noticed this credit?

I think alot of us Bond fans noticed that little nod to Fleming. Nice touch, EON.

Ian Fleming's Casino Royale....

however, at least they put this in!

Ahh thanks for the information Matthew :) Please let me know if you manage to find the end credits anywhere. You're usually quite good at finding this sort of thing!! Cheers. I absolutely adore those opening titles.

Strangely, the video doesn't seem to be pirated. Wonder where it came from.

Link or no link, if you keep doing this, Matthew, you'll be chucked off the forum.

Your choice.

Well, NSNA credits said 'Based on an original story by: Kevin McClory, Jack Whittingham & Ian Fleming'.

The last time I remember Ian Fleming credited for the story was in Moonraker (strangely enough, it doesn't have anything to do with the book except for Hugo Drax and Bond). From MR on, Fleming was always credited as the character creator, but I think it's the first time we see 'Based on the novel by Ian Fleming' as you've said before.

Unlucky me, I won't be able of watching the movie until this Friday

Must admit, I didn't catch it. Too busy taking in all the pretty visuals. Always nice to see the big IF getting credit where it's due though.

O.K. here we go...

So I was sitting down for my second time seeing Casino Royale, that credit came on, and this guy above me said "This was a Book?" :P :) My friends and I all turned to look at him.

LOL. if u think thats bad, a load of guys turned up in tuxedos dressed as 'bond' and had 'bond girls'hanging off their arms as they walked into the cinema. and when ppl tried to sit next to them they shooed them away, saying it was a 'costume only' seating row. that caused quite a rucus before the film started.
But it died down once the wikid black and white pre-credits begun...best precredits...ever.

LOL!!! :) That is funny. I was going to dress up as Bond, but I was coming from school, and I don't think the security would let me in with my airsoft version of a P99.

My biggest nit pick with the film was with the opening titles. This is the first Bond film in nearly 20 years to be directly based on a Fleming story, and they chose to bill Craig "AS IAN FLEMING'S JAMES BOND-007 IN CASINO ROYALE," when it would have been nice to see DANIEL CRAIG AS JAMES BOND-007 IN IAN FLEMING's CASINO ROYALE." Sure it wasn't 100% Fleming, but neither was MOONRAKER.

Any idea why the kept the latter Roger Moore/Dalton/Brosnan-era type billing, when they could have given us a Sean Connery era title?

At least Ian Fleming got an on-screen credit.
