The Fate of Valenka

One can assume that Valenka and the anonymous thug were killed, but we never see it happen. Would be cool if it was revealed that Valenka was not killed and is in fact a member of "The Organization." Since one of the main points of the film is to trust no one it would certainly be a nice twist.
Probably won't happen though.

Didn't M say that everybody was killed except Bond and Vesper?
I suppose it'd be possible that MI6 didn't detect her leaving. But yeah, all signs point to dead. Sorry.

But I think Mr White killed her. It's unfortunate because I would have liked to see her return in Bond 2.2

One question, Le Chiffre's bald henchman that got the most screentime is his name Kratt? I suppose he is the main henchman and not Valenka in the film.

This thread title sounds like the name of a Booker prize winning book.
Could just imagine Meryl Streep in the movie version.

Yes, that's Kratt, played by Clemens Schick. I don't think it was very clear that Valenka was intended to be a henchwoman; her role was much more in the mould of being Le Chiffre's girlfriend. One question, Le Chiffre's bald henchman that got the most screentime is his name Kratt? Interesting this. I'll need to listen again to make sure there were only two fired, because Le Chiffre had at least one another thug with him in addition to Valenka and Kratt. Two shots were fired - one for her and one for the thug.

I would assume that there was a second exit into that unseen room and if there were only two shots fired then I would also assume that the other thug went back above decks where he met his demise by Mr. White before White dealt with Valenka and Kratt. While unseen, all of those deaths are implied by Mr. White's sudden appearance in the cargo hold where Le Chiffre is. A talented killer our Mr. White, no?Yes, that's Kratt, played by Clemens Schick. But, Two shots could have been fired at the thug, Valenka could be Mr Whites lover, trust me, she's probably in his jucuzzi at the Villa

I didn't notice that it was Valenka who gave Bond the drink, neither did I even realise that was her name. A very mysterious character on the whole, apart from when she was concerned for her arm.
She didn't hand him the drink, but she put the poison in it just before the waitress took it.

If there's an extended cut of CR on DVD - hope, hope - I trust we'll see a much nastier Valenka.

[mra]What was a nice touch was there were two Vespers on the tray the waitress took, Bond

Me too! Was kind of surprised to see her "where are the pliers?" line cut out of the torture sequence--but perhaps it was just too much (or maybe for time).

Is Valenka actually seen on screen inserting the poison? The first I realised Bond might be in trouble was when he starting sweating in his seat.
Yes. She drops the digitalis into his drink while it is sitting on the tray at the bar. The barmaid then comes over and brings the drink to Bond.
