First things first.
Daniel Craig's James Bond is the best ever. His acting skills and the characterization in the script are phenomenal.
I could praise many more aspects of CASINO ROYALE, but you could also read any of the hundreds of positive reviews around here. So to save myself time, here is what I absolutely did not like: VESPER LYND.
OHMSS is my favorite Bond film, so I was in awe when I saw the cinematic Bond falling in love again. However, the relationship in CR didn't feel the same to me, and now I know why.
To be honest, I have never been a fan of Eva Green’s looks (I think her bloody scene in THE DREAMERS killed the possibility of any attraction on my part), so when judging Vesper Lynd, I have the advantage of not thinking with my balls like many of her fans, but of more or less objectively judging the character.
Unlike Tracy, a girl with one wing down who warms up to Bond faster than you can say "barn on Christmas", I can’t see what Bond finds so attractive about her. She is a cold, manipulative, cocky bitch (which, luckily, Bond admits later on).
And unlike in the book, nothing in the movie version of Vesper made me believe she was in love with Bond.
Overall, I would give the film 8/10. It's about on par with GOLDENEYE in my book.
