I really loved Casino Royale. For once, I finally saw the James Bond that I imagine when I read the novel.
Some of my highlights:
'The name's Bond...James Bond.' That scene was brilliant. A classic Bond momemnt there.
The torture scene. The shift in tone through Bond's screams turned laughter was a stroke of genius. It really makes the audience get on Bond's side.
Green and Murino. Wow.
Mikklesen. He wasn't the Le Chiffre from the novel, but I still liked his interpretation of the character.
Craig. Like I've said - this IS Ian Fleming's James Bond as I see him when I read Casino Royale. I just hope that as Craig's films move forward, so does his portrayal of the character.
The Parkour chase. Perhaps it was tad too long, but on screen it looked amazing.
I also liked the scenes that took place in between the poker game. They added an extra level of excitement to the film.
The scenery. I was amazed by this. The cinematography in the film was outstanding.
The humour. It was there alright. Two standout moments were; when Bond sits Dimitrius down after killing him and gives him a pat on the cheek; Bond telling Vesper her cover name - it sounded like Miss Broadchest. Quality. I just hope I didn't mishear it.
