I was pleasantly suprised to see that they actually did a good job in showcasing the Vesper and getting the recipe right. As far as I know, though...you cannot get true Kina Lillet anymore-just the normal blond Lillet?? Maybe in time-warp Montenegro, though?
My favorite line is when he amazingly survives the poison in the drink and comes back and says "That last hand nearly killed me!"

The vesper martini (some spoilers)

It was a while ago.
How would one go about making this now I wonder?

The Vesper Martini has just been featured on BBC Radio Five Live! Apparently there is only one company in the world (in France) that produces that orange Vermouth used in the film. They never asked to be in the film but they have been inundated with requests since the movie came out. I think they said they produce about a million bottles a year of the stuff.
I couldn't quite catch the name of the company though.

Together with about twenty of my mates, I saw CR on opening weekend (in black tie, I am afraid...) then repaired to the Jewel Bar in Covent Garden. If any London-based CBNers are interested, they make a very creditable Vesper with what's available there - Gordon's, vodka, and Martini Bianco as an alternative, with a twist of lemon. They are deceptively pleasant, but five of them were enough to put me out of action for a day and a half.
I have no idea how Bond drinks those things and plays cards. They must do more damage to him than the torture and the car crash put together.

Maybe he's like Dr. Johnny Fever, from WKRP In Cincinnati. He gets better the more he drinks.I have no idea how Bond drinks those things and plays cards. They must do more damage to him than the torture and the car crash put together.

I'd love to try my hand at making a 'Vesper'.
