Is there any particular reason why Felix was there? Were the CIA after LeChiffre too? Or was he just there to set something up for future films?

I felt that they could have developed his character a bit more. Or, are we to assume that he'll take a more active role in the next film.

His role was minor because he wasn't originally going to be in the film, Felix replaced another CIA agent who was scripted, but again minor.

Yes, in the novel, the CIA is after LeChiffre too, as in the movie (someone makes a mention about how the CIA is going to extract LeChiffre tomorrow morning after Bond wins the poker game).

Leiter doesn't really have that much more of a role in the novel than in the movie.

I knew for a long time that Felix just replaced the character from the script. But I was secretly hoping that they'd rewrite part of the movie and have Felix play the same type of role as he did in the book, that's the only aspect of the film that disappoints me (so far, still havent seen it yet :)).

Felix didn't really have a much bigger part in the book, as Fro said. He was just in it more but what he actually contributed to the plot was about as much as he did in the movie. Dont get me wrong, I was dissapointed to not have more of him but hopefully in the next one he'll have a more integral role in the story.

So are you saying that you want Bond 22 to be Live and Let die?

:)

Jeffrey Wright did a spectacular job though, he made that character memorable in the little time he had.. maybe it's just because I have a FL crush going, but did I really thought he added something to every scene he was in :)

And no, I don't want 22 to be LALD.. I did originally, but CR has amazed me, and I'm ready to go to new storylines etc..

Curious if any of you got the laugh when Felix confronted James on the stairs leading out of the casino and revealed his true identity to 007? I comes at the end of that sequence when Leiter says he will stake James in the rest of the game as long as the CIA can bring Le Chiffre in. Then James says but what about the money. Then Leiter says something to the effect of does it look like we really need it?

This got a huge burst of laughter from the audience however maybe I am reading into it too much but I don't see the humour in that line. Explanations please?

Well, the United States isn't exactly strapped for cash. That's all. :)

I saw that angle however I didn't think it would warrant the round of laughter it stirred up in the theatre that it received last night. Oh well . . . thanks Publius

I think it was the irony.. Bond is ready to stab Le Chiffre for the money after Vesper won't give him any more and Felix just says "ohhhh, here you go".. I loved that whole scene :P awesome awesome casting, I love the Craig/Wright interaction :)

I like Jeffery Wright, even though I've never seen any of his movies. Some of the lines made an impact-"Three grand" and usage of the word brother twice very well.

I'll say it...yeah. :P

Well, somewhat...either way, I'd love to see Felix in a bigger role, and hopefully becoming more of an ally Bond can trust and befriend. However, they set it up well to go either way with Felix.
