CBn user name: clublos (as if you couldn't tell)
Favourite Bond film: currently OHMSS
Best Bond film (if different to your fave - you may, of course, cite CR): FRWL
Least favourite Bond film: TMWTGG
CR rating out of 5: Too soon to say
How many times have you seen CR?: 2
Was CR better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?: About the same
Was Craig better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?: Better
Most memorable moment: Torture scene
Which part of the film did you enjoy most?: Bahamas sequence
Which part of the film interested you least?: The ending: okay, the delivery is all wrong, he's not going to introduce himself that way to someone he's about to kill and I guess it's personal but I never liked "The name is..." when he can simply say "Bond. James Bond."
What surprised you most about the film?: The gunbarrel; I knew it was going to be different, but there's just something about seeing the gunbarrel come on the screen when you're watching the new Bond movie that I missed. Whatever, I'll get over it.
Most amusing scene in the film: Winning the Aston Martin
Most "Fleming" bit in the film: The way he describes how to make his martini; it was exactly as I pictured it from the novel
The film's biggest strengths: Craig, story, pacing, cinematography, music
The film's greatest flaws: Extended chase scene at beginning, too little emphasis on "The bitch is dead" line
Comments: See above, I won't make a detailed analysis until I've seen it many times.

Favourite Bond film: CR
Best Bond film (if different to your fave - you may, of course, cite CR): CR
Least favourite Bond film: MR
CR rating out of 5: 5
How many times have you seen CR?: 1
Was CR better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?: Better than I expected
Was Craig better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?: Better than I expected
Most memorable moment: When he first arrives at the ocean club...that whole scene is classic Bond.
Which part of the film did you enjoy most?: The beggining 3rd because I wasn't spoiled by reading the book.
Which part of the film interested you least?: Vesper's death
What surprised you most about the film?: How close it was to the book and the spirit of Fleming's character.
Most amusing scene in the film: The Ocean Club bit.
Most "Fleming" bit in the film: The casino section and the Vesper romance. That and the ruthlessness and brutal detail of the action.
The film's biggest strengths: Bringing Bond back to the tone and characterization of the novels.
The film's greatest flaws: The way Vesper's end was handled, I understand for a film you need a big ending but I much prefer the book as to how she kills herself.
Comments: Best Bond film ever. Enough said.

Favourite Bond film: From Russia With Love / You Only Live Twice

Best Bond film (if different to your fave - you may, of course, cite CR): From Russia With Love

Least favourite Bond film: The World is Not Enough

CR rating out of 5: 4

How many times have you seen CR?: 1

Was CR better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?: About the same, better in some places.

Was Craig better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?: Better than I expected.

Most memorable moment: Vesper drowning herself beneath the waters. It stays with me more than any other image. That, or the moment where she says good-bye to Bond in the hotel lobby, and she just takes him in, sure that it will be the last time she evers sees him.

Which part of the film did you enjoy most?: Hmm. Not sure. Enjoyed all of it and I can't think of one particular stand-out for me.

Which part of the film interested you least?: Uh, the Madagascar chase, though I was still pretty entertained.

What surprised you most about the film?: How fast everything seemed to fly by for its running-time, as well as how beautifully shot it was.

Most amusing scene in the film: Bond talking to Vesper on the train.

Most "Fleming" bit in the film: "Get the girl out."

The film's biggest strengths: Performances and action.

The film's greatest flaws: A far too action-packed first third.

Comments: Overall, a terrific Bond entry.

CBn user name (okay, probably this question isn't really all that necessary :) ): Loomis

Favourite Bond film: THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN

Best Bond film (if different to your fave - you may, of course, cite CR): FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE

Least favourite Bond film: THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH

CR rating out of 5: 3

How many times have you seen CR?: 1

Was CR better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?: About the same

Was Craig better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?: About the same

Most memorable moment: The torture scene

Which part of the film did you enjoy most?: The casino game

Which part of the film interested you least?: Miami, which is basically a competent but overextended and numbing action scene almost right after another one.

What surprised you most about the film?: Its intensity, its uncompromising radicalness ("be careful what you wish for", I guess), and its often brilliant visuals.

Most amusing scene in the film: The idea of a team of doctors on standby 24/7 in case a Double-O is injured anywhere in the world.

Most "Fleming" bit in the film: Bond and Vesper drinking at the casino ("I wouldn't be very good at my job if I did").

The film's biggest strengths: Craig, and its technical excellence, with Campbell, Meheux, Arnold and others right at the top of their game.

The film's greatest flaws: Overlength, plot holes and various unanswered questions (so how does Bond break into M's place?), and a script that, while it contains some of the best dialogue ever heard in a Bond film, manages to be a bit of a mess.

Comments: An excellent step in the right direction, and certainly a brave and commendable effort by Eon. Falls short of being a solid gold masterpiece, but is nonetheless a film of great and memorable moments. May be rather too dark and too much of a departure from the norm for some.

CR rating out of 5: 5
How many times have you seen CR?: 2 (Advanced screening and today)
Was CR better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?: Better, much better
Was Craig better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?: Better
Most memorable moment: Smirking while the terrorist unknowingly triggered the bomb that killed him
Which part of the film did you enjoy most?: All the action scenes
Which part of the film interested you least?: none, I enjoyed CR thouroughly
What surprised you most about the film?: Craig rivaled Connery as best Bond
Most amusing scene in the film: "I have an itch..."
Most "Fleming" bit in the film: Bonds "coldness" toward the end of the film
The film's biggest strengths: Action sequences
The film's greatest flaws: Overall running length
Comments: What a refreshing movie, really reenergized the series. A shot in the arm that it so badly needed

Favourite Bond film:
The Living Daylights/ The Spy Who Loved Me

Best Bond film (if different to your fave - you may, of course, cite CR):
Goldfinger

Least favourite Bond film:
Dr No

CR rating out of 5:
4

How many times have you seen CR?:
1

Was CR better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?:
About the same, better in some places, lacking in others.

Was Craig better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?:
Better than I expected.

Most memorable moment:
Bond's happiness at the hospice with Vesper. Just him holding her hand while the banker bumbles about is rather memorable and striking for James Bond. Also Bond's slight ineptness while following the terrorists in Miami is quite memorable.

Which part of the film did you enjoy most?:
Bond's Bahamas investigation. From the moment he crashes that Range Rover you know you're dealing with 007.

Which part of the film interested you least?:
I was quite bored bythe sinking Venice building. Just unnecessary dressing.

What surprised you most about the film?:
The humour- some really very funny gags. Even Bond bursting through the plasterboard wall was brilliantly funny, as was the 'Are you okay?' question from Bond after he's just effectively died!

Most amusing scene in the film:
The 'finger' line.

Most "Fleming" bit in the film:
Ordering the Vesper- even though I'd had it hinted that it was there I didn't realise it would be so faithful. The stairwell fight with its messy end felt nicely Fleming too.

The film's biggest strengths:
Excellently judged recrafting of Bond's character which is still utterly faithful to the previous movies and Fleming but managing to be real at the same time. Very clever.

The film's greatest flaws:
The protracted ending.

Comments:
Best Bond film in years; a wonderful overhaul but with everything still in place. And Daniel Craig is James Bond.

CR rating out of 5: 3
How many times have you seen CR?: 1
Was CR better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?: About the same
Was Craig better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?: I was neutral to Craig going in, and found him "pretty good" going out.
Most memorable moment: The part where Bond realizes that Vesper is working with the enemy.
Which part of the film did you enjoy most?: Bond in the Bahamas.
Which part of the film interested you least?: the poker game. I don't really play poker.
What surprised you most about the film?: The dialogue. I was surprised that it lacked any bad one liners.
Most amusing scene in the film: M talking about how Bond just destroyed the embassy.
Most "Fleming" bit in the film: Bond at the end.
The film's biggest strengths: Craig was a pretty good Bond. I thought the film had a lot of good concepts to it.
The film's greatest flaws: Too many random villains. Who were most of these people and why should I care about them? Also, the film felt a bit too ambitious, like it was trying to do too much at one time.
Comments: Okay start to the Craig era. Looking forward to the next film, though I felt this one fell a bit flat.

Most memorable moment: The part where he's mistaken for a vallet
Which part of the film did you enjoy most?: The part where he comes back from Vesper reviving him from the dephib shock
Which part of the film interested you least?: The torture scene. lol. Just watching it hurt.

CR rating out of 5: *****

How many times have you seen CR?: Once

Was CR better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?: Better, I was expecting a great Bond movie, and we quite possibly got the best.

Was Craig better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?: Better, he was the coolest man alive during this movie, and the entire audience related to him. When he laughed, we laughed with him. When he was in danger, we actually worried about him. Not something I've ever experienced with a Bond movie. He felt like a real person.

Most memorable moment: Have to say the torture scene.

Which part of the film did you enjoy most?: African Rundown and Venice Finale.

Which part of the film interested you least?: Really enjoyed the whole thing. Sure I'll think of something though.

What surprised you most about the film?: The humor. It was genuine laughs and not groaners.

Most amusing scene in the film: Torture. The dialogue was absolutely terrific. Craig played it perfect.

Most "Fleming" bit in the film: Probably the hotel room scenes between Bond and Vesper between the game.

The film's biggest strengths: Craig, Craig, and Craig.

The film's greatest flaws: Drags a bit at the end, but hardly ruined the overall experience.

Comments: Bond is definetly back. I never thought I could connect with Bond like I did in this film and I can't wait to see what they do with Bond 22.

The Ford Mondeo - what was the point?

What surprised you most about the film?:
Just how great Craig delivered us James Bond - it has to be the best performance by any actor.

Most amusing scene in the film:
When Bond requests the Martini and others say they'll have one as well, then Le Chiffre gets pissed off :)

Also where Bond runs through the wall while chasing Molaka.

'Do I look like I give a damn?'

The film's greatest flaws:the Caino scenes (with the exceptiong of a two or three good gags) defuse the the tension abit. Also the supporting cast is a bit a hit and miss, Solonge (is that how you spell it?) is a bit irrelevent and rather flatly played/written)
Comments:It's hard to say without watching it again, so this is just pretty provisional, but I fond it not quite as entertaining as most Bond movies usually are and not good enough to fit in with my other favourite non-Bond movies, such as The Apartment, Vertigo, The Third Man, A Taste Of Honey , LA Confidential etc. A good movie, not a great one.

Best Bond film (if different to your fave - you may, of course, cite CR): See above - why ask twice?
Least favourite Bond film: From Russia With Love
CR rating out of 5: 2
How many times have you seen CR?: 1
Was CR better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?: Much worse
Was Craig better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?: Much worse
Most memorable moment: Car crash
Which part of the film did you enjoy most?: In car with Vesper
Which part of the film interested you least?: The torture
What surprised you most about the film?: Too serious
Most amusing scene in the film: His jokes with Vesper
Most "Fleming" bit in the film: the pre-titles black and white bits. How Bond got 00
The film's biggest strengths: Music
The film's greatest flaws: No Q, Moneypenny, gadgets, humour, villain
Comments: Not a Bond film. Where is the big baddie, jokes, Q, gadgets, sexy girls in titles. This is Jean Claude Van Damme action movie. And why did they kill Vesper - are they just trying to copy OHMSS (another less good Bond film).

The film's biggest strengths: Craig Craig Craig! Well written script, great cast, beautiful locales, a sence of elegance, no stupid gadgets/jokes, following Fleming's novel!

Best Bond film (if different to your fave - you may, of course, cite CR):
Least favourite Bond film: Goldfinger
CR rating out of 5: 4.5/5
How many times have you seen CR?: 1
Was CR better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?: About even, I expected a very good movie and I got one.
Was Craig better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?: Even bnetter than I expected. I figured he'd be good but wow!
Most memorable moment: Last scene, the slow pan up to Craig and his delivery of the line is classic.
Which part of the film did you enjoy most?: Parkour chase
Which part of the film interested you least?: The main title song didn't really stand out for me.
What surprised you most about the film?: The humor in the torture scene. A pleasant surprise, but surpising nonetheless.
Most amusing scene in the film: Bond turned valet driver, always nice to see him humiliate jerks.
Most "Fleming" bit in the film: shower scene
The film's biggest strengths: Great performances all around, strong, well-shot action scenes, nice touches of humor where needed, great ending.
The film's greatest flaws: Rather bland score and main title theme
Comments: A great intro to Craig as Bond. the best one since Tomorrow Never Dies.

Favourite Bond film: Goldfinger
Best Bond film (if different to your fave - you may, of course, cite CR): Goldfinger -- I should note that I am restraining myself from listing Casino Royale in any sort of list so as to allow it to sink in with multiple viewings.
Least favourite Bond film: A View to a Kill
CR rating out of 5: 5
How many times have you seen CR?: 1
Was CR better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?: I had high expectations and I wasn't let down. In some cases it even exceeded them.
Was Craig better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?: Better. Once again I had generally high expectations, but I didn't think he was going to shine as much as he did.
Most memorable moment: Probably the torture sequence since nothing of its caliber had ever been done before.
Which part of the film did you enjoy most?: Mollaka chase
Which part of the film interested you least?: While I like the casting of Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter, his role was rather weak and small. I don't know how it could have been expanded or been made greater, but ... well there you go. Here's hoping he has a slightly expanded role in Bond 22. Also I am glad it was Leiter and not just a random CIA guy from the early script.
What surprised you most about the film?: Bond's internal and sometimes open quarrel about his soul and his line of work. I didn't expect it to come off as well as it did. For instance, the Solange scene with M. That for me was the beginning of what eventually happened to him in the first chapter of Goldfinger where he is - unusually - morose about his line of work.
Most amusing scene in the film: Hard to pick one. Bond v M, perhaps. Banter with Vesper is up there to be sure.
Most "Fleming" bit in the film: Bond at the table, Bond ordering "the Vesper"
The film's biggest strengths: Great casting, character development, acting, and a good amount of Ian Fleming for the first time in years.
The film's greatest flaws: Deviating from the formula so much. It's a double edge sword. 40+ years and 20 films, it's kind of hard to chuck the formula out the window. It paid off - for me, but it won't for everyone. Some people are content with the same ol same ol.
Comments: It's "greatest flaw" IMHO, was also it's greatest strength. Tip of the hat to Martin Campbell and crew for an excellent well-crafted film (in general, not just as a Bond film). Also to Mads Mikkelson who I feel is being completely overshadowed by Daniel Craig at the moment (and probably rightly so), but Mads did a hell of a job and is now up there as one of my favorite villains. And Eva Green, <3 - The three of them really made the film so well-rounded. For the first time in a long while, I loved all three major roles (Bond, Bond girl, and villain) not just 1 or 2.

I don't really feel like writing a review. Beyond comments here and there this is about the best you'll probably get from me.

Best Bond film (if different to your fave - you may, of course, cite CR): OHMSS
Least favourite Bond film: AVTAK
CR rating out of 5: 5
How many times have you seen CR?: Twice
Was CR better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?: About the same as I expected.
Was Craig better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?: About the same as I expected.
Most memorable moment: Torture sequence.
Which part of the film did you enjoy most?: The casino sequences.
Which part of the film interested you least?: The venice house fight.
What surprised you most about the film?: The amount of humour.
Most amusing scene in the film: Torture sequence.
Most "Fleming" bit in the film: Le Chiffre weeping blood.
The film's biggest strengths: The interplay between Craig and Green.
The film's greatest flaws: Car chase too short, ending too abrupt!
Comments: I think that the ending is too abrupt and they should have pulled away with a ariel shot, leaving Bond standing over White while the theme tune played. Otherwise a superb Bond film and a solid piece of cinema entertainment.

Favourite Bond film: GE

Best Bond film (if different to your fave - you may, of course, cite CR): OHMSS

Least favourite Bond film: LTK

CR rating out of 5: 5

How many times have you seen CR?: 1

Was CR better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?: Better, I was expected an average film and got one of my favorites.

Was Craig better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?: MUCH better. I was expecting to have to make myself see him as Bond, but he absolutely nailed the part. Craig is so good as Bond that he almost makes this film look bad.

Most memorable moment: The stairwell fight

Which part of the film did you enjoy most?: The stairwell fight

Which part of the film interested you least?: Don't get me wrong, the airport sequence wasn't bad and I did enjoy what happened to the guy when he tried to detonate the bomb (haha)...but it felt the least Bondian to me.

What surprised you most about the film?: It didn't feel like I was there for 144 minutes.

Most amusing scene in the film: When the arrogant man throws his keys to Bond and what Bond does with the car...and how Bond doesn't hesitate at all to do this.

Most "Fleming" bit in the film: the stare-downs at the poker table and Le Chiffre's death

The film's biggest strengths: Shows a more-human Bond who doesn't take himself too seriously (unlike Dalton and Brosnan-to an extent)

The film's greatest flaws: Madagascar scene does little to help the film.

Comments: Everything I could've hoped for and more.

Best Bond film (if different to your fave - you may, of course, cite CR): From Russia With Love
Least favourite Bond film: Moonraker
CR rating out of 5: 4.5
How many times have you seen CR?: 1
Was CR better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?: Most of it better than expected, a few things worse
Was Craig better than you expected, worse than you expected, or about the same as you expected?: Better
Most memorable moment: The poker game.
Which part of the film did you enjoy most?: The chase at the construction site.
Which part of the film interested you least?: The torture sequence (a bit graphic for my taste, though still an integral part of the film).
What surprised you most about the film?: The brutality Bond had to endure at the hands of his enemies, and the brutal way he disposed of them. Certainly no Roger Moore or even Pierce Brosnan!
Most amusing scene in the film: Bond and M's exchange following his destruction of the embassy. Classic!
Most "Fleming" bit in the film: The poker game, the torture scene.
The film's biggest strengths: Plot driven storyline, the exceptional locales, the strong soundtrack that tied everything together and of course, Daniel Craig.
The film's greatest flaws: A bit too violent in spots, though nothing too graphic. Still better to be a bit too realistic versus too over-the-top, as in Die Another Day.
