Well, I went to see Casino Royale last night at the ODEON and I'll have to admit I was excited about seeing the film. I heard a lot about the movie, and being a Bond fan, I just had to go and see for myself. So here's my opinion of the new Bond film.

There is only one word to describe it: FANTASTIC!!!!
I mean it! It's different but brilliant. This film takes you away from the traditional Bond movies, it's something new, it's exciting, it's now a franchise which could actually go somewhere! Daniel Craig makes a fantastic Bond, in my opinion and I sure hope he sticks around for the next few years. Eva Green potrays the sexy, femme fatale, Vesper Lynd brilliantly. She is a totally different kind of Bond girl from the others, she's down to earth and genuine. She's no kick-[censored] kind of girl, she's strictly the office job type and committed to get the job done. Mads Mikkelsen potrays a different kind of Bond villain, he's a man in a desperate situation and Bond ultimately is an obstacle for him. But of course, Le Chiffre is not the real enemy at the end of the day! We hope to find out who the culprit is in the next coming film!
It is important for Bond fans and non-Bond fans to know that this film is not like any other Bond! I must stress this, or you will be disappointed. If you're going to see CR, then go to see it with an open mind! There are many changes. There's no traditional gun-barrel sequence, no Q, no Moneypenny. However there is one exception of course... and that is Judi Dench as M. I suppose you could say, she's the only thing that you can connect this film to the previous Bond movies. But you do get to know more about M's private life in this film. (To an extent)
The opening B&W pre-title sequence sets the story of the film, and it's a good start to the film. I think it lasted just under 5mins or even less. It's short and sweet, which I like! The title sequence and the song 'You Know My Name' really appealed to me. Brilliant titles which suits the film and the song by Chris Cornell is brilliant and again different! Thank god a male artist finally singing the main theme tune!! It worked for me.
The action sequences were amazing! Especially the African Rundown. It reminded you that this is a Bond film, although the Bond tune didn't turn up until the end of the film. Perhaps the Miami airport sequence reminded you a bit of Die Hard, but then again a very good scene! The only downside I felt was that the Poker Game at CR dragged on a bit, but that's the only serious criticism I have of the film. The final sequence in Venice was supperb, and definitely ends differently from other Bond movies, but you know immediately that this story isn't over. Bond is out to seek the organisation who's funding the world's terrorists.
The ending also captured those perfect lines: The name's Bond.... James Bond, and the Bond theme tune blasting out as the film ends. Classic!
There is one thing about this movie that makes it very different and that is the plot! It's very complex, and you probably have to watch it again to understand it throughout.
It will be interesting to see what EON does with the next film, where it goes from here and how the story will progress. I hope they are going to introduce us to the finest villain of all! Because this is a build-up now of something big, and I just hope they won't disappoint! But one things is for sure, the franchise is alive and there is a future, and one thing for sure........

Bond is well and truly back! :)
