The first piece of OCTOPUSSY campaign was this promo poster using, interestingly enough, a combined image of Connery

When shooting commenced, a full-page ad was taken out in Variety. Now we have a pic of Moore from FYEO and the debut of the (first) Octopussy logo.

The first teaser poster took aim at rival NSNA and reminded people the Octopussy was the 13th film in the official series. In my opinion, this is one of the best-illustrated images of Moore.

A second teaser poster featured a clean image of Moore and Adams and introduced the now familiar Octopussy logo.

The final one sheet pulled it all together very nicely I think.

That's pretty damn interesting Zencat. I'd quite like to see a few more progressions of advertising campaigns... it's interesting to see how they developed and how they combatted the films that went up against them. I doubt that the modern campaigns are as intensive. Got any more planned zencat or anybody else who'd has the resources to take up the job because I'd love to see more.

Nice original art is featured on the European poster.

Octopussy comes to T.V. and gets a snappy new tag line.

The top part of a table standee of the main artwork...

(Bought this a while back and I figured I'd post this here)

The new OCTOPUSSY logo and look on the DVD is less than gripping, in my opinion.

Some of those posters are completely new to me! But I have to say my favourite in there is the first teaser poster with the 13 Bonds. The Bond's are great. But the back of Octopussy is what makes the poster. It's reminiscent of the For Your Eyes Only poster and it's pure sexuality. That poster alone would entice me to see the film if I was not a Bond fan.

And the bottom...

(Forgive my spectacularly poor photography skills. I had a full one but it came out blurry as it was saved right as the digital camera ran out of power.)

Sorry, License to Kill, but in re-ordering my thread I accidently deleted your post about Roger looking like something out of Rosewell on the DVD cover -- which I agree with you on by the way. :)

I owe you a post.

Re the first teaser poster--it looks like roughly the same design would be used four years later in LTK, with the glorious derriere of a lovely yet lethal lady in the foreground left and Bond in background right. I'm not sure what the multiple Bonds means, but it's still a cool image. And I agree that the new DVD/VHS cover for Octopussy is terrible--ironically, it places a similar design that had a MUCH better photo of Moore. In the new one it looks like his hair is matted to his head!

I think this is the design you're talking about, Hardyboy. I don't know, this one looks pretty bad to me too.

I've got most of my MOONRAKER images selected... I'll post it later today or tomorrow. There's just one poster I don't have a pic of (but I have it in my collection). It's a B-Style one sheet called the "Review sheet". It's essentially half the art of the US poster and the rest of the poster is filled with rave reviews from critics. It's the only time a Bond film has put out a poster like this and I'd really like to include it. If anyone has a copy, I would appreciate it if you could email it to [email protected]. Thanks. :)

I second that. I think zencat has done a fantastic job. You wouldn't happen to have one similar one for FYEO would you? I looked through the archive and could not find one, but I am sure there were some interesting posters.

Thanks guys! The whole point of having a collection is that you can share it. :)

And, no, I don't think I did a FYEO one. There wasn't much of an "evolution" to the FYEO campaign. They had that leg art from the teaser.

I know that in one of the countries they put shorts on the girl in the FYEO poster.

That was the good old USA. But this was just in some newpaper print ads. I've never seen an actual poster with the shorts.

I think it was Italy actually...kinda strange considering their liberal views on sex. The country actually had a pørn star elected to government...
I have put a thread of sorts together of some artwork I found in our archives (as in where I work, not CBN). The images are very blurry and poor quality but thats how they were saved.

I understand that the colour of the shorts the babe with the legs was wearing on the poster changed as it went to the other countries.

And in some cases, the shorts went up noticeably a little higher just to tick people off...

The Brazilian poster showed a bit more cheek than usual :)
