I just remembered, a couple of people clapped when Jeffrey Wright revealed himself to be Felix Leiter...obviously a couple of hardcore fans in the crowd!

:P Were you in Columbus? I was the Bond nerd that giggled and clapped when Felix came onto the screen :P

I'm amazed they let me stay actually :)

Haha no this was in LA, I think someone (the same person?) cheered when Wright's name appeared in the beginning credits

The crowd reaction when I saw it was much like Auric64's description.

There were obviously poker players in the house, because I could hear different people whispering to their companions, telling them what kind of hand a player had.

They did seem to get impatient toward the end, once Le Chiffre was out of the picture most seemed to expect Bond and Vesper to get the usual Bond film ending. A couple left when B&V were boating around Venice. A guy near to me kept waving his hand, as if to conjure the end credits. They settled down a bit when they realized there was more story left, though when it cut to Mr. White's place there was a murmur of "how long is this gonna go on?" from a couple directions.

Then the end came, and there seemed to be a positive vibe. The credits conjurer sang along with the Bond theme as he left, some said they'd be back to watch it again, and a group of people stayed through the credits to make sure that JAMES BOND WILL RETURN.

I just commented about this on zencat's review. I heard a lot of this going on. It would have helped me if I had someone next to me who knew about poker too! :P

Other than that there was mostly laughter at a few points.

Although there was one other thing. At about 2/3 of the way through I would say, some guy yawned several times I swear at the top of his lungs... I didn't quite understand what that was about. :) He didn't do it anymore after that though.

Crowd here in Kentucky loved it. Every on-screen joke was met with a ton of laughing. Based on the laughter, you would've thought it was Will Farrell making those quips during the torture scene.

The Mann Chinese theatre...the 7.30 Friday evening show...? I saw a few people in tuxedos, I thought they might have been CBN types :)

My crowd liked it and the "appreciative end of the movie applause" routine was trotted out.

Nope. I was at the Grove (sitting next to The OC's Adam Brody and a few seats away from Will and Grace's Sean Hayes). I did cheer for Felix though.

In north suburban Atlanta (Mall Of Georgia Cinema), there was one moment of laughter from the audience, and most of the gents were cringing at the torture sequence. This same torture sequence was too much for my girlfriend, who closed her eyes during the duration of the sequence but otherwise remained seated with me. By far, a thundering roar of applause came when DC spoke The Very Last Line in the film. We are not in doubt anymore, that James Bond has returned in style. By coincidence, we had just finished seeing the closiing credits and were about to walk out of the theater, when a co-worker from my employer called on my cell phone and asked if I had just seen the new Bond film. Obviously I had a story to tell him.

Back in Action - Back in Style - Back to Basics. Daniel Craig IS James Bond.

I think it will leave people mixed. This film is more cerebral and, as such, the huge segment of the audience who can't or won't think will not like it for its lack of gadgets and dumb inuendos.

I don't know. I have the impression this film is going to be fairly universally favoured. It didn't come across as something for the 'in-crowd only', at least by my interpretation. Seemed pretty darn accessible. I could be wrong. But I think it's going to be not only a critical darling and a box-office bonanza, but a film enduringly revered by the mainstream populace.
