"...The Bitch is Dead."

I'll not go in depth with the film, I'm only saying that because I'm not good at writing reviews but this is my opinion.

On November the 14th, 2006 one Daniel proved his critics wrong and was tiumphant. I'm refering to yesterday's World Premiere of Casino Royale and the Daniel is one that goes by the name of Daniel Craig.

On November 15th, 2006 another Daniel on a small island in the Caribbean saw what is perhaps the Best James Bond film in the franchise's history. The Daniel I'm refering to is me(Yes, I share the same first name of our new James Bond).

Casino Royale marks the arrival not just the return of Ian Fleming's sadistic secret agent.

The film moves at a steady pace never losing interest. Beautifully shot and directed by Martin Campbell. Voilent and gritty but yet still Bondian.

Fleming gets story credit: "Based on the Novel by Ian Fleming"

I'll just post comments on the actors, the poker game and action set pieces.

Daniel Craig: The moment Daniel's Bond arrives on screen it felt as if he was Bond for a long time...familiar yet a fresh breath of new life was breathe into a character I thought I knew. Craig shrines as James Bond, In the action, fights, and those tender moments with Vesper(those parts are the ones I love the most). Charming, and sophisticated.
Daniel Craig IS James Bond OO7.

Eva Green: Beautiful and captures the enigmatic Vesper Lynd. Eva scenes with Daniel sings with alot praises. The banter between the two is funny and witty. But the tender moments are where she is best and it works effectively with Daniel's Bond.

Mads Mikkelsen: Le Chiffre is a bastard and a desperate man. Mads' best scenes are at the poker game adn specifically the torture scene(though I'll say Daniel steals this scene away from Mads.)

Jeffrey Wright: Need more Felix. Jeffrey Wright as Felix Lieter from the short amount of time the man is on screen I found him likable and a good Felix. A few more films for Wright then I'll put him up there with Jack Lord and Rik Van Nutter as my favorite Lieter.

Action set Pieces Rating on a Scale 1 to 5.

Parkour Chase/Crane Fight: Was a little too early in the film but I enjoy it for the most part.
7.5/10

MIA: My favorite action set piece. Intense! Will not elaborate any further. A must see! Ending of this piece...I found quite funny.
9/10

Venice Finale: It's the emotion impact that this one gets a high ranking.
8/10

Poker game is suspenceful. Wonderfully shot by Martin Campbell. Thumbs Up!

The Torture scene: I believe we got the US cut of the film and I must say. Ouch. I really felt for Bond. Daniel steals this one from Mads in my book.

I didn't found the love between Bond and Vesper rush(as some might have felt, it was rush in OHMSS), I thought was believable. Truly Heartbreaking.

Overall the BEST Bond film in my opinion.

A comment from one of my cousin came and watched the film with me: "That guy is the best Bond. a hardcore Bond."

His younger brother and himslef came out quoting the "The Job is Done, The Bitch is Dead" line.

Alot of Brits on the island came out to see Daniel Craig as the new Bond. Let me just say they and myself were not disappointed.

Bravo, Daniel Craig, bravo.

"The Job is Done. The haters(Anti-Craig) are dead."

10/10

"The job is done....." indeed.

I am bursting to see it! Craig, I know he is going to be the best, but his performance must be absolute dynamite.

Dont describe it...but did you like what you saw of the gunbarrel?

Were you satisfied by it's placement? Just thoughts, please...no description.

I want to have my own experience of it on Friday.

I thought CR was gunbarrel-less????

Didn't I hear a rumor that there wasn't going to be a gun barrel sequence in CR?

If you've seen any of the teasers or trailers, you may well have seen the gunbarrel bond_girl!! But don't go and check - be patient and be surprised :)

Screened one of two prints tonight at my theater, but I don't want to throw out spoilers so I'll keep it general.

Gunbarrel fits in well, but the B&W is a little too much.

Craig is gritty. Craig is cold. Craig is full of angst. Craig is pretty damn impressive.

Second half of the film is just flat out great film making. While many of the major elements of Fleming's novel are kept, there are many suprises for us lit buffs.

Yes, Virgina, there is a Felix.

The first half of the film has a lot of frivilous, but very well done, action sequences. Reminds me of the Bourne films, except that Craig is much more intense than Damon. This isn't a Bond that would sleep with his therapist, this is a Bond that would scare the living hell out of his therapist.

I'm a huge Green fan, but they have toned down her looks here a bit. She is still beautiful, but not so much that she distracts you from the rest of the film.

Ending sequence is nice. It doesn't end with Fleming's famous last words of the novel, but the words are there.

Torture scene actually has some humor added to it to make it less grueling, but make no mistake, it's still rough. My son keeps on repeating Bond's line from here, I hope it doesn't get him in trouble at school tomorrow.

It's not perfect, but it's very, very good. This is up there with the Connery's, and God forbid, it may even be better. I'm not a gushing fan boy either, I'm 39, and as many of you know, I'm not a big fan of the films, more of a Fleming purist, but I have seen them all repeatedly. But I'm not going to deny that this is a great piece of work. They wanted a rough and tumble reboot for the franchise, and man did they deliver.

Many of the younger fans might not remember that there was a time when Bond films were path burners and trendsetters filled with innovations that other films would copy. This film will do much to restore that glory, and make a ton of money while doing so. I look forward to seeing it again, I will buy the DVD, and 2008 cannot get here soon enough.

I saw it in Baltimore tonight at the East Coast premiere. Simply awesome. Daniek Craig is the best Bond of them all. The plot falters towards the end a bit, it is about 10 minutes too long and I wanted to see more Leiter as well. But these are minor points. The ending alone is worth the proce of admission.

The audience I was with loved it from the start. They've certainly accepted Craig and I think word-of-mouth will be huge. Daniel Craig is James Bond. You guys are going to love it.
