Did you try a hair dryer, I usually use it to peel labels off of my books? I Just let the hair dryer (on Hi) blow on the label and it melts the glue.

What is the design on On Her Majesty’s Secret Service' cover? I scrutinised it at the Penguin site, but couldn't make out anything.

Not too sure myself, General.Originally posted by General Koskov

I scanned the whole cover (complete with that damned sticker!) to get the big picture, so to speak.
It looks like ice.
Although, I couldn't find any phallic symbols to adhere to zencat's revelation on graphic artists' propencity when using ice.

Luck has spit in my face, and will have to wait for the next (and last) lot to arrive before I can actually start reading them.
Penguin has messed up big time with the covers as far as I'm concerned.
Looking at the spines of the 10 I already have, the book title (in small print) runs above the author's name (in big print), but because O&YLD is only 130 odd pages, and therefore thin, it's spine has the title and author's name on one line. So when you line up the books on a shelf you can see the spine print all nicely lining up except O&TLD at the end, on which the print is significantly higher up. Sticks out like a sore thumb.
What's also annoying is that all the titles are coloured silver except Goldfinger and TMWTGG, which are, you guessed it, in gold lettering. I know that the other 4 yet to come are also silver, so what's the point of having 2 books out of a set of 14 being in a different colour.
I know this doesn't change what's between the covers, but still.
Geez!

Let's hope they do a better job with the U.S. books. FYI: BN.com shows an Aug 15 release date for these...but still no cover pic.

To give you an idea of what I mean about the spines of the books when they are lined up..

The gold print doesn't bother me because it fits in with the rest of the set. The colour of title text matches the colour of the inside covers. And the titles on the other covers aren't all the same colour - - most of them are varied shades of silver but a handful are tints of other colours: The Spy Who Loved Me's is lilac in colour.
I've almost finished Live and Let Die. Loving it!

Be Aware! This works perfectly with CDs, but I wouldn't try it on books. Depends on how the covers are finished: if they are laminated (like most schoolbooks are), nothing should happen (but then the stickers would go off easily). If the are finished with a clear varnish (standard procedure), you should be very careful, because you don't know what kind of varnish they used. Could ruin the book, especially when you get too close to the edge. And it depends on what kind of stickers they used. Ususally, it's those paper-stickers, and they can behave very nasty. And normally, there always stay some shades when using alcohol.Originally posted by WarBird
Try using rubbing alcohol . Thats what I use to get stickers off of things.
Best way is the old hairdryer method. Be patient, don't let it get too hot. Don't use fingernails, knives or something like that too peel off the edges. This always leaves some damage. Take a piece of Scotch tape, put it on the sticker, right over the edge and peel slowly.
(Oh, and if the covers aren't finished at all: don't even dare trying to remove 'em)
