What are the mechanics of the transition from the gunbarrel to the main title sequence? Is it gunshot, blood down screen, roaming circle opening onto main titles or does the screen turn red with the blood and simply fade into the titles?
Second question, just how bloody/gory is this movie?

The big question on all of our minds....are YOU visible in the final cut?
What are the mechanics of the transition from the gunbarrel to the main title sequence? Is it gunshot, blood down screen, roaming circle opening onto main titles or does the screen turn red with the blood and simply fade into the titles?
Second question, just how bloody/gory is this movie?
To answer the first, yes, I am visible. Hooray! There are a couple of quick shots (just before the "get the girl out" line) where the sharp-eyed can see my misshapen noggin.
Second, wow. I hate to admit it, but I don't remember the transition. I was still trying to get over the fact that I was finally seeing the film, I guess.
As for how gory it is, I would say on a scale of one to ten, it's a two--if that. Most of the hype surrounding the gore has been overblown, in my opinion. I think it's a case of conditioning. We're so used to seeing no blood at all in a Bond film that even a little seems like a lot. But truly, this seemed minimal to me. In fact, I remember being more shocked at the scene in Octopussy (where Bond shoots the Russian soldier in the forehead) than anything in this one. Also, the blood that is visible is residual--not still pumping!

To answer, I'll quote myself:
[quote]The denouement features uncertain allegiances, a final action piece in a sinking Venetian building, and [color="#FF0000"]a closing scene that with three words, indelibly places Craig

I don't remember Mr White asking this either... does he say it over the phone?(I don't remember Mr White asking "who are you?")
I remember! (He did.)
And to the person asking about Craig's delivery of the line... it wasn't particularly memorable, it happens quite quickly, but it's still a perfect moment because of the way the scene is set up.

Another spine-tingling aspect of the novel just came to mind. Does the movie retain the (justifiable) paranoia of Vesper after the mission's over and she and Bond are "on vacation"? I'm thinking in particular of the man with the black eye-patch who shows up here and there following the two. I don't expect it would be exactly like the novel portrayed it, but is the general feeling of unease and "looking over her shoulder" in the movie? And for that matter does she turn into an emotional rollercoaster by the end?

I'll take that one Yes, the man with the black eye-patch is in it. Her paranoia is played down a bit from the book, though you definitely get a sense of it... she's very emotional by the end of the film.Ernie, one more for you:

I actually found the last section of the film quite touching.

Man, I am pumped that they've remained so faithful to the book.
(Now if they'd just make faithful adaptations of You Only Live Twice and Moonraker.)

Good idea; a retitled version of YOLT for Bond 22, but with him avenging Vesper rather than Tracy!!!
