I got to thinking with all this talk of visiting past bond films / books for future bond games, that OHMSS (either a reversion starring Craig, or no bond at all making the player bond) would make a very very cool first person experience if done properly. When i say experience, I mean something along the lines of Half Life or Call of Cthulu: Dark Corners of the Earth.. something that totally immerses us as the players. Where there are no cutscenes, not traditional ones anyway, it's all told through the eyes of the player character with no health bar, no ammo readout.. all very immersive much like Cthulu or King Kong. The book would be followed to a T and every thing mentioned in the book, the player will do. This would be a lengthy gameplay experience (15 to 20 hours). This bond game wouldnt be something like Nightfire where you go from point A to B shooting anything with two legs, a gun, and a bad accent. No way, this is for those hardcore bond fans like us.. made by fans, for fans. So here are a few level ideas to get everyone on par with my idea and to start with the brainstorming of what this game could be if ever made:

Objectives are shown on a small pad which bond carries with him and this pad can be brought up at anytime by pressing the back button on the xbox controller.

Level: This Never Happened to the Other Fellow
Gunbarrel sequence and you start off within the casino which serves as an interactive menu screen (complete with some interactive baccarat tables). In order to start a new game you simply exit the casino. Then eventually the player completes the entire pre credit sequence of saving Tracy and fighting the goons on the beach.

Level: Gumbolds Safe
This is definately more of a stealth oriented type of level (ala splinter cell) where the player will have to sneak their way into Gumbolds office, retrieve the photocopier, and copy the documents all in a set amount of time.. has the possibility to be very tense. The safecracking and photocopying could even be small mini games.

Level: Piz Gloria - Day 1
Once you get to Piz Gloria you have several days to complete a series of objectives while undercover as Hillary Bray. Along the way you will have to be at certain areas at certain times during each day (like meeting with Blofeld, dinner with the girls, maybe even meeting a girl late at night for information.. or....fun). The time structure could be very similar to that in Dead Rising and when the player needs to check the time, they simply push the right bumper and see their in game arm comes up to the screen with their rolex giving them the time of day. The Piz Gloria levels would be very much like the double agent mechanic used in Splinter Cell Double Agent. If henchmen see you doing something suspicious then you will lose a little trust.. and you can only lose so much trust before they discover who you are.

Level: Escape from Piz Gloria
Ah yes, the ski chase in its entirety from a first person perspective. To my knowledge this has never been done in a game and skiing in first person with a large level and tons of path choices to make sounds pretty intense to me. Of course, if/when you do get a ski blown off and manage to ski on one ski (which requires some incredible balance by using the analog sticks) then you get the "00 Ski Master" (or something less cheesy sounding) Achievement.

There, just a few level ideas... this could be a really cool game if done properly. Activision.. you listening?

If it is made to be rated M for Maure, can we have Bond reading a magazine with scantily clad womem? :) Just a joke, maybe I should read the book, huh?

Would it be too much to dare to hope Rich would do the music if such a game came to pass?

Interesting game idea. I had a skiing game for my ColecoVision which was first person. Very crude by today's standards but it was state of the art at the time. :D
