New JAMES BOND baddie MADS MIKKELSEN felt like a clumsy idiot during torture scenes in CASINO ROYALE - because he kept whipping 007 DANIEL CRAIG for real.
The Scandinavian actor, who plays evil LE CHIFFRE in the film, had to wear a milk-coloured contact lens throughout the film and it made his accuracy levels slip.
Mikkelsen admits he felt compelled to take Craig for a drink after they wrapped the torture scene - by way of apologising for accidentally lashing the new Bond.
He explains, "I was probably the most clumsy Bond villain in history because I lost my depth perception so I kept knocking things over.
"Then, when we filmed the torture scene, Daniel was strapped on a chair for eight hours and once we started shooting we did the whole scene through 40 times from scratch. It was a long day for Daniel.
"Having this eye, which was covered with a lens affecting my depth perception, was not good. Every once in a while I heard a scream from Daniel...
so I would step back two inches.
"There was something under the chair to make it safe but it's an action film, so you've gotta have a little bruise... We were both happy with the scene and exhausted, so we had a beer after that."
