It's a random topic and I hope some will find it amusing. I've personally have owned several dress shirts through the years. I've probably spent a small fortune on them yet, I can never find one that fits me like a glove. I'm athletic and have a muscular/dense build so fitted-shirts are normally uncomfortable and skin tight and regular shirts are too large and add an additional 20 pounds to my mid section.

Though in recent weeks I purchased two whites and, one pale blue shirts from Van Heusen. I'd heard of the brand but surprisingly never bought a shirt from them. Nothing against the shirts, after all Van Heusen does boast a "royale warrant" and is regularly mentioned in GQ magazine...Anyhow I tried the fit on, it was nothing short of spectacular! Though nothing in life is perfect, I had to take the shirts to a local tailor who fit the shirt on the sides(very thorough measurments) and removed the tacky breast pockets, as I prefer a cleaner front. A few days later when I picked the shirts up I was really surprised on how well they fit and looked on me! The sides were fitted without being tight and the when I tucked in the shirt(s) it didn't ballon in the back or fall out of place. The collar sat high and the taper was perfect! Very smart!

My only complaint would be the "American" definition of a "spread collar" seems to be only marginally wider than "pinpoint" or "traditional" style collars. In order to sport a windsor knot I have to wear thinner neck ties.

Interesting. Good on you for your finding. I've tried Van Heusen but their longest sleeves are far too short.
