IT'S ODD THAT THERE ARE SO MANY VERSIONS OF THE TITLE SONG ONLINE: WITH ARNOLD'S ORCHESTRATION, WITHOUT. I SUPPOSE THAT BY ITSELF ISN'T STRANGE BUT COULD THERE BE DISAGREEMENT BETWEEN CHRIS CORNELL AND THE PRODUCERS? WHAT ABOUT THE FACT THAT THE SONG ISN@T INCLUDED IN THE SOUNDTRACK CD? DIDN'T THE SONG GETS SOME NEGATIVE FEEDBACK AT THE TEST SCREENING? IS THERE A CHANCE THAT THEY WON'T USE YO KNOW MY NAME? THEY DROPPED KISS KISS BANG BANG AS THE TITLE SONG TO THUNDEBALL AT THE LAST MINUTE. ALICE COOPER RECORDED AN OFFICIAL VERSION OF THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN THAT WAS NEVER USED. COULD THE PRODUCERS BE TESTING REACTION TO VARIOUS VERSIONS OF YKMN OR COULD SOMEONE BE SHOWING US THEIR VERSIONS FOR POSTERITY. OR IS THIS ALL QUITE NORMAL? ANYONE KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH OFFICIAL STATENTS/RELEASE DATES FOR THE SINGLE?

COULD THE MOVIE END UP WITH AN INSTRUMENTAL YKMN PLAYING OVER THE CREDITS?

Hopefully they do use the song because I think its a great song...a good choice for a restart.

My friends, who are only casual Bond fans, all seem to love it and I loved it the first time I heard it. :P :P :)

So did I. But why is SONY keeping it off the score album? And why is no release date set for the song on a seperate CD? I know, on October 31st the video will premiere. But when will we be able to get it in the offical version (I hope with the strings...)?

I still have my doubts if "You Know My Name" will be in the Title Sequence. Ok, I know, is a great song :) and I listen a lot everyday since it's release, but really, isn't in the Original Soundtrack and we already have three versions of it, this is so weird. Let's see in a couple of days then, and hoping that the music BE IT in the movie. :P

I hope they keep it - its a great song and feels right.

The different versions are not indicative of a serious problem or disagreement over the song - far from it: its a way of promoting it across various new outlets - specifically myspace. its cool to have demo versions of the song for Cornells myspace etc.. things are working differently now and songs diffuse onto the web in odd ways. It wouldnt suprise me if the final version is different again..

The title songs not on the OST presumably because David Arnold felt he wanted it to work as pure soundtrack.. something more akin to the pure OST approach of hans zimmer etc on soundtracks like batman begins and the davinci code. An effort to move up a league by Arnold perhaps. But also nice to have soundtracks not broken up by songs that dont fit.. but strange in this case as the melodic lines of the song run throughout the score. It would round off the ost perfectly. Maybe they wanted the single to break free a little and vice versa.

Arnolds score is so clearly a step up for him, its on a new level. its sensational - moody, atmospheric, dramatic, sexy, classic - no retro cheese in sight, no lame duck barry pastiches..( or smug lightweight oceans 11 style lift music..self styed to be 'cool' - [censored] off ) just echoes of classic bond. its beyond good.

Do you guys think they will use the original YKMN in the film? Hope they do. Love all versions though, but the first I like.

I also expect the whole score to be Arnold

I thought the reason YKMN isn't on the OST is because Cornell is with a different label than Sony.

IMO, if they used Madonna's theme for DAD, there is no reason why YKNM shouldn't be played during the titles!

That song is terrible. I hope they just use Goldfinger...honestly, I won't notice. :)

The song will be released on Cornell's record label as far as I know, whereas the soundtrack is Sony Classical, which explains the song's absence from that cd.

Would it be stated in the posters

Featuring "You Know My Name" Performed by Chris Cornell

if they weren't to use the version sung by the man?

Moby's remix of the James Bond Theme was going to feature in Tomorrow Never Dies and was pulled. Surrender in Tomorrow Never Dies was written as the main title song but relegated to the end titles. Scott Walker's song Only Myself to Blame was written for The World Is Not Enough end titles and was pulled.

You Know My Name performed by Chris Cornell will probably still be in Casino Royale but not as the main title, as the posters do say "Featuring You Know My Name performed by Chris Cornell". There's no mention of the main title track, even the soundtrack CD listing does not feature the main title track.

hmmm... maybe they will use Arnold's new Bond theme for the opening credits then end with Cornell's YKMN in the credits...?

Featuring "YOU KNOW MY NAME" performed by CHRIS CORNELL

BAM!

There is no way they're not going to put it over the main titles. It's already been advertised on the web as such, it's mentioned on the posters (since when did a film poster talk about a song on the end credits?), and Cornell would probably be pissed if it wasnt on the front of the film.

It will be on the front of of the film.
