George.

Sean and Roger both did well, but Sean is brought down by ‘Jamaica Jump Up’ and Rog by the sappy love song era. (Good sappy love songs, yes, but still sappy love songs)

I quite like Tim’s two, but neither are epic. Pierce’s song are all enjoyable but save ‘GoldenEye’ don’t make my regular listening list.

George on the other had his one great epic instumental song. Definitely George is the winner.

I voted for Roger Moore. Moonraker is my all time favourite, and I also like Live and Let Die, Nobody Does It Better, All Time High, and A View to a Kill.

I mean, Live And Let Die, A View To A Kill, Nobody Does It Better, plus a Shirley Bassey tune...

...HAD to vote for Rog.

(And thanks for the poll, Qwerty!)

I voted Daniel Craig, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. YKMN is a great song, and I can't listen to it enough. And the fact Craig has only one movie out right now makes it very easy to say he had the best title songs, because there are no bad ones right now to bring down his average :)

No problem.

The only major misstep regarding the title songs in the Roger Moore era was Lulu's The Man with the Golden Gun as far as I'm concerned.

Yes was just about to make the same observation. While 'The Man with the Golden Gun' certainly isn't the worst song in the series, it does let down the collection from Moore's movies. I still definitely voted for Moore though - my 3 favourite Bond themes were all from his era.

It was tough picking between Lazenby and Moore. I think Moore faired the best in terms of music. Seven songs, five good, one average and one poor (all IMO of course). But Lazenby had a 100% success rate. His one song was masterfully created by Barry and was pure Barry. Nothing was diluted by adding a modern pop singer. So I have to choose Lazenby even though it seems a bit unfair compairing one song to seven(you are bound to get a dud sooner or later).

This is an easy one: the Roger Moore songs.

Often I hear Nobody Does It Better and AVTAK on the radio. And with Paul McCartney doing LALD, like I said, Roger's Bond songs by a wide margin.

Out of curiousity, which song do you think is the worst in the series, Vauxhall?

For mainstream popularity it's undoubtedly Roger Moore. However, for me, after tallying up my rankings of the songs and averaging them out, I tend to like Pierce Brosnan's songs just a tad more than Moore's. Here's my averages (haven't heard Daniel Craig's You Know My Name yet):

1. Pierce Brosnan -- 8.6
2. Roger Moore -- 9.1
3. Timothy Dalton -- 10.0
4. George Lazenby -- 13.0
5. Sean Connery -- 14.1

Absolutely. How on earth could they get someone like Lulu to sing their theme?

Although I adore LALD, NDIB, MR, FYEO, ATH and AVTAK, however, I voted for Connery. Simply because of the iconic status of FRWL, GF, TB, YOLT and DAF, fueled by wonderful Barry melodies.

Here is the chart:

1- George Lazenby (just one soundtrack and it's the best for me)
2- Sean Connery (FRWL, Goldfinger or YOLT are very fine and the standard of the Bond's soundtrack was established during this area)
3- Roger Moore (Moonraker, AVTAK great soundtracks)
4- Timothy Dalton (TLD strong sountrack too)
5- Pierce Brosnan (sorry a lack of originality)

I see this is old but I guess I missed it.

I voted for Roger's theme songs. Nobody Does it Better, For Your Eyes Only and Moonraker are the love song classics. Live and Let Die and A View to a Kill are the other classics. All Time High and The Man wih the Golden Gun are my least favorites, but I do like them TMWTGG more than ATH. I think Connery comes really close and Pierce had the weakest of all.

I voted for Sean Connery. I love Dame Bassey's two contributions, YOLT has a beautiful and unforgettable melody that permanently and memorably ingrained itself upon my brain the first time I heard it and TB is the ultimate anthem to Bond(He always runs, while others walk....). I guess I am a true John Barry fan.
