Sure - from a new angle, using fictional factions and organisations, in a highly unrealistic and fantastic manner. I don't think you could call any Bond film a Cold War spy thriller in the way you could THE KREMLIN LETTER, THE QUILLER MEMORANDUM or THE IPCRESS FILE. And not just because of the title formulation. They were fantasy spy thrillers that used some of the elements of the Cold War as backdrop, but political realism has never been a hallmark of the series. GOLDENEYE is a possible exception, but that's post-Cold War.

I would certainly imagine a background of the threat of global terrorism (as we will have in CASINO ROYALE) to persist for at least a few movies, but I think it's important that Bond doesn't become too closely affiliated with real life events. Just as he never explicitly faced Russian enemies during the Cold War, but often competed against them, or against Russian dissidents.
