I was thinking, where has Bond or the world of Bond been directly referenced in other films (or TV shows for that matter)? I don't mean just a movie or character similar to Bond or inspired or possibly linked to Bond (such as Batman, Indiana Jones or Flint), but ACTUAL references to Bond or Bond's universe - even in a parody fashion. Perhaps an actual mention of Bond, or of a martini "shaken and not stirred" or a silver Aston Martin, or the Bond theme, that type of thing. Here are some I thought of:

Cannonball Run (Moore basically playes Bond - sort of)
Catch Me if You Can (DiCaprio's character imitates Bond)
Agent Cody Banks (not the fact that the movie parodies Bond - but the fact that a silver Aston Martin is referenced in one scene).

Where else can Bond be found in movies/TV?

Regards

Well technically Roger Moore plays Seymour Goldfarb who is playing Roger Moore (as revealed in the discussion with his mother).

There are James Bond references in both REMINGTON STEELE and THE SAINT which is ironic considering who the lead actors in those series were.

Also in RETURN OF TYE MAN FROM UNCLE George Lazenby plays a secret agent driving a gadget-laden Aston Martin DB5 with the license plate "JB"

in an early episode of Spooks (Mi5 in america) one of the plot lines is about a list of Mi6 and Mi5 agents being stolen, at one point we see the list and "Bond, James" is clearly listed under the Mi6 section

In 'Friends'. Can't remember exactly how it went but someone was borrowing a tux that was apparently worn previously by Pierce Brosnan. Whoever it was loved the idea of wearing James Bond's tux.

In Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry sequel The Enforcer, one of the villains in that film is examining an electronic stun gun and then remarks to his fellow bad guys, "This looks like something from a James Bond film." I wasn't expecting Eastwood to reference Bond in his movies, since the Dirty Harry franchise is nearly as much an icon as Bond is and stands on its own as such. However, I am now glad he put it in there, to acknowledge the continued interest in the Bond films. See it...it'll make your day.

Data from The Goonies was so obviously a Bond wannabee, and even plays the James Bond theme tune during the first half of the film.

The film Teen Agent was like a poor man's young Bond, and even featured a villain who was so obviously meant to resemble Rosa Klebb.

Yeah it was the guys getting tuxes for Chandler and Monica's wedding. Ross got Val Kilmer's tux and Chandler got Pierce Brosnan's tux. Although it was remarked that Chandler's trousers were so tight that it was possible to see 00 and 7 in them!! :)

I can remember Pierce Brosnan giving Kermit a big punch in the show 'Muppets Tonight'.

Oh, THE BEST! Those poster adverts were damn good too!

What about the Jack Ryan film, Patriot Games when the electrician (Tom Watt, Lofty from Eastenders and star of Lost Dogs and Flirting With Flamenco), goes into the rare book shop and asks the proprietor whether he is familiar with the works of Ian Fleming?

In "Network," just before William Holden and Faye Dunaway drive off to their romantic weekend getaway, she says that ABC is offering her a deal on the James Bond films, and that she'll try to get the network to sell them cheaper.

Tim McInnerny in 'Notting Hill': "James Bond never has to put up with this sort of [censored]."

Also, 'Carry On Spying' with Charles Hawtrey as James Bind.

The Simpsons :)

That's my favorite :)

I love that Homer helps the baddie shoot Connery Bond (without Homer's knowledge obviously) and the baddie is so grateful he names a wing of his bad guy lair after him :P :P

I love that the bad guy just shoots him too [censored] excellent reference, excellent episode [censored]

Have you seen the other simpsons Episode with the Roger Moore signed photo of Sean Connery?

How about the Matt Helm movies of the 60's, I said seriously dating myself. And James Colburn's "Flint" movies too. They were meant to be take offs or improvements on James Bond.

Cool ref to MI 5. I think I did see that when the ep played here in America.

In the Recruit, Colin Farrel says "Bond, James Bond". As does Adrian Paul in episode of Highlander. They also modifed the Bond theme in Highlander while Richie Ryan was driving a very expensive car down a winding road.

An episode of Frasier concludes with Frasier, Niles and Martin singing the title song Goldfinger.

I think this qualifies as one of my more inane posts.
