Anyone think that the story was basically The Da Vinci Code but with Joseph Stalin instead of Jesus? I made the connection on another message board and somebody thought that description really funny.

Interesting comparison; of course Robert Harris's book was written nearly a decade before Dan Brown's.

The other problem is DC's character. In the book he is all cynical and drunken AND American. Here DC is allowed to play him as a sharp and taut English academic.

Could be wrong here, but I'm sure Kelso is an Englishman who's been working in the States and not actually American.

Pretty good flick. I recommend it to tide you over until Casino Royale's on DVD.

I just watched it too, after a little effort (first Blockbuster I tried, all four copies were rented out, hmm!)

Anyway I thought it was pretty good, the story was interesting enough. There was an obvious 'tv' feel to it but its definitely worth a watch.
