Two hit franchises at the same time for Craig?

Thinking about it, this seems an extremely rare thing for actors. The only other example that springs to mind is Stallone (Rocky and Rambo, 1982-1990, 2006-2007). 'course, Gibson had MAD MAX and LETHAL WEAPON, but the former was dead and buried before the latter got started; similarly, Ford was Jack Ryan only once he was done with Indy Jones.

Harrison Ford had Star Wars and Indiana Jones going at the same time.

Just wondering: will Craig make Bond actor history by being the only 007 to have two hit franchises on the go at the same time, indeed the only 007 to star in a smash film series other than Bond?

What about Layer Cake:West End Nights? A prequel is in order, no?

We speak of the Dark Materials thing here, don't we? Up to now I've only read the first two books, but I seem to remember that Lord Asriel isn't a very central character in there, or am I completely wrong? Apart from being Lyras father, he doesn't appear very often in those two books. Ok, that might change in the final one, but up to now I don't find him to be much more than a supporting character.
Well he does sort of drive the whole thing, so he's very important, and although it's been a while since I read them as well, he does turn up quite a bit mroe in the last, I think.
The stage play has sort of overridden my memories of the books and Tim managed to pop up quite a bit in that.

I suppose, if it ever gets made, the sequel to Thomas Crown will technically mean Pierce did it first. Plus, we don't actually know if Dark Materials, or indeed Casino Royale, will be 'smash films'.
I dunno. Did Roger turn up in Cannonball Run 2?

Oh, thanks for the info, I'll really have to read that last book now.

Hmmm....possibly, but it would depend on how well Craigs OTHER movie does.
Let's take Roger Moore for example. we had CANNONBALL RUN, WILD GEESE and word is that FFOLKES (aka NORTH SEA HIJACK was originally supposed to be a franchise-starter.
I guess an argument could be posed that Brosnan had the THOMAS CROWN franchise going, even though the second movie will not come out until after his reign had ended.
