Why do you all feel the need to get defensive about him getting

You and Daniel Craig apparently, that's the real reason they chose him.
I'd pay them to let me do it.
Craig was never going to the hit the big time without Bond, use Bond and he'll sod off, I would, if I could have a few million. But sadly he isn't right for the role, he's a villain. Bond fanchise is a joke right now.

"Hey, I know a guy who was kicked out of Eton, has a scar down his cheek and used to kill for a living -- AND HE'S A GREAT ACTOR! Let's call him!!!"

Ah, that would be Simon, my ex. He does seem very suitable for the part but is not available, unfortunately, too busy being a 'soldier of fortune'.

Sean Connery is demonstrably right for the role because he brought him to life and succeeded in capturing people's imagination with his depiction. The proof of the pudding is the 20 subsequent films.Nobody has EVER been right for the role of James Bond. He's a fictional person. It's not like he was modeled to fit an actor somewhere.

You're right, the series is a joke right now. Which is why we need a great film like Casino Royale to erase the damage the last ten years did to the franchse

Indeed, yet when Fleming saw Co9nnery acting the role in the film he suddenly loved him.
This isn't hearsay, he loved him as Bond so much he put Scotish heritage into his character in the novel YOLT.
The proof of the pudding is in the eating. We haven't seen Casino Royale yet, so nobody can trully say if Daniel Craig is good or bad as 007. IMO he could well be very very good, but I'll wait to see the film before I fully cement an opinion.

In other words, wait to see the guy act before you declare him wrong for the role.

I would pay it for you... just for the entertainment value.
Thank you, sweet pea xxx I'd be bloody excellent as Bond.
No doubt you would be - I'm sure you'd look great in a bow-tie.
