If Dench appears in Bond 22 as M, wouldn't she officially move into #2 in M appearances with six? (If you count Admiral Hargreaves as being the future M in TSWLM - that plus OP, AVTAK, TLD & LTK would give Brown five in all)

Well it makes sense. There'd be no point in bringing her back for just one film with Craig and lose a connection they'd developed over the first film. It jsut wouldn't make sense.

But yes, this is good news, even though we probably didn't need IMDB telling us so.

Just on Dench as M in Bond 22...I know it aint going to happen, but wouldn't it be good if the next film was 'The Facts Of Death' and instead of the Decada, the villainous organisation was the 'Lords Resistance Army'! As you'd know then we could learn more about the cinematic character of M. I guess I just want some of the novels that haven't been adapted as films.

I don't get how age plays a major factor in whether someone will be a good choice for a role, as long as they're over 55 I'm not fussed. Of course if she were to be 101 and covered in cracks I would object

I don't mind Dench as M, and won't complain if she stays. Generally speaking she is good as M, sometimes better, and to be honest I can't be to bothered whether or not she was cast for some political correctnees or not.
As for the above post, you do realise the Lords Resistance Army is a real group right? And they're terrorist clients of Le Chiffre and whoever the hell he works for. I doubt they'd appear prominently at all in future films.

Back again? Oh, well, you can't have everything. I wonder what complaints M will have against Craig's Bond as a man? I have nothing against Dench or her acting abilities, but how they portrayed her as "M".

In Goldeneye M makes too much of the male/female thing. It doesn't come across as a boss correcting an employee, but as a woman whining and griping out Bond. Just irritating.

In TWINE she dumps on Bond because her friend gets killed (not Bond's fault IMO).

In DAD she questions his loyalty. Just plain irritating.

Only in TND, especially during the PTS, I really liked her role, especially her line, "His job". If they could bring back THAT M, then I'd be fine.

Without going into spoiler territory, I think that M is back. The fact that she's a woman in CR is never really a factor in there scenes together, in fact I think this M would have kicked the crap out of the M in the Brosnan era

I'll concur with JimmyBond. The way M's written in CASINO ROYALE is actually pretty decent (she's certainly one tough lady - this isn't the same M we've had before), and that despite the fact that she was in a previous continuity, CASINO ROYALE should be better-off for Dench's involvement.

But anyway, I have no doubt that she'll return for BOND 22.

Agreed. In CR, M actually acts like a head of secret service and her personality is somewhat constant as opposed to the Brosnan era, where one minute she was 'You don't like me...' to 'Oh who cares, you can rejoin the service despite you committing unsanctioned murder, assault and arson.'
