Reunion of two 'Casino Royale' stars

http://www.empireonl...y.asp?NID=19366

For months the rumour mill has been grinding away with speculation that Paul Bettany will be taking the role of Lord Asriel in The Golden Compass, AKA the first His Dark Materials film.

But no, it turns out that Bettany was the chaff and Daniel Craig

Didn't Tim Dalton play the part on the stage in the West End?

Wonder why they'd cast DC? :)

Daniel Craig - specıalıst in reprising roles played by Timothy Dalton. :)

I guess this makes Craig the first Bond actor to have two franchises going at the same time.

Ditto....more because of Green than Craig though.

Good thing is that my girlfriend seems to have a thing for this Craig fellow so it shouldn't be too hard to persuade her to go see it. :)

Indeed. Very cool to see the two stars will be back together right after Casino Royale.

He's going to need a new series when the producers fire him after Casino Royale! :) :P

Anyway, that is actually pretty darn cool. :P

Great news. Craig should make a nearly perfect Asriel--a bit young, perhaps, but he shouldn't have any trouble mustering the necessary intensity. The comparison to Dalton seems increasingly justified.

Did anyone see TD play the role on stage? I meant to go but...didn't :P
Anyway I hope it works...Craig is a good choice...the books verge on the unfilmable (certainly the third one) but thats never stopped anyone before :)

So is this the lead role? Or is it like Lord of the rings where everybody has the lead role? :)

And it occurs to me that Daniel Craig must be one of the friendliest people in the biz - everyone wants to work with him a second time! Eva Green, Nicole Kidman, Jeffrey Wright, Michael Gambon, Roger Michell, John Maybury, Gwyneth Paltrow* (don't think they share any scenes in Infamous though).

No, the lead roles belong to the two kids (although the boy probably won't show up until the second film). Craig's part is fairly big and important, though--maybe along the lines of Gandalf's in LOTR, or a bit smaller. Hard to know how closely they'll follow the books.

I am really, really happy to hear this. I thought the chemistry between Craig and Green was one of the best captured on screen since the "Golden Age of Hollywood". I watched tons of classics this summer, some for the second time, 'Casablanca', 'Maltese Falcon', tons of Hitchcock films, etc. I would like to see Eva Green and Daniel Craig star in a variety of movies together, whatever the genre.

Apparently Daniel's MUNICH co-star Eric Bana also has a role in this film, making him the third actor on this project to join the Daniel Craig co-stars reunion (Nicole Kidman from The Visiting and Eva Green from CR).

Seems everyone loves Dan and can't wait to work with him again!

I wasn't really into the Pullman books, but I believe I'll be seeing this just for our two leads! Pity that Green's character doesn't interact with Craig's, though.

Hm. Two concurrent series which are likely to do very well at the box office. Damn, who's Daniel Craig's agent? He/she deserves major props for good career management.

Seems everyone loves Dan and can't wait to work with him again!

Yep. And it also seems like he doesn't have to worry about being type-cast any time soon! :)
