In "The Return of the Man from U.N.C.L.E." Solo is helped out by JB, being played by George Lazenby who is driving a DB5 with the license plate "JB"

Been 20 years or so since I saw it, and I very much doubt I'll ever watch it again, but isn't THE CANNONBALL RUN full of thinly-veiled-with-a-gossamer-thin-veil references to Bond, revolving around the character played by Moore?

And given Lazenby's appearance in THE RETURN OF THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E., isn't there perhaps a case to be made that both he and Moore played Bond (essentially) outside the official series?

Ooops, I see Loomis alrready brought it up.

Oh, and another great one! Throughout the Beatles film, Help!, there is a very Bondian guitar riff every time the bad guys appear on screen. At one point one of the baddies (maybe Leo McKern himself?) takes off his turban and throws it, Oddjob-style, at Ringo, even adding a "shhishhhh!" sound effect with his mouth. Unfortunately for him the turban merely unravels into one long strip of cloth and flutters harmlessly to the floor! :(

And on the album of the same name - only the US version though (more of a soundtrack album, with instrumental tracks, the UK version just included extra songs) the title song opens with that riff - been a while since I noticed my copy, but is it credited as the Bond theme?

In the game Simpsons Hit & Run, in one map, there is a massive cargo ship. When you go inside it, there is a submarine called U.S.S.Jebediah (it says in big letters on the side). I noticed it loads of times, and only just associated it with the U.S.S.Wayne in the Liparus, from TSWLM.

ALso, there are loads of Bond references in the Simpsons TV series: one couch gag even looks like the gunbarrel, and Homer escapes from a hollowed-out volcano with a Union Jack parachute!

I heard this US version the other day via a remastered Japanese CD pressing. Yes, the Bond theme intros the song "Help!", and along with the other (sometimes Bondish) cues all the score to the film was done by soundtrack composer Ken Thorne.

The show Buffy the Vampire Slayer had great references to James Bond - Sorry if I'm repeating someone's post if has been mentioned already. Most favorite, when the three guys who wanted take over Sunnydale was fighting over who was the best James Bond.

Destroy All Humans 2 has a lot of references: it starts by having Crypto (the main protagonist) say, "D'you expect me to beg, human?", to which the KGB agent replies, "No, little Furon, I expect you to die!". Soon after this, there is a mission entitled, "The Alien Who Probed Me".
When you get to Albion (London), you occasionally encounter Secret Agents, who will shoot at you with a Golden Gun, and then you meet Reginald Ponsonby-Smythe, "at your service. And Her Majesty's. Though, in Her case, the Service is Secret". This M16 (Majestic Command, 16th Sector) Agent has a machine-gun umbrella, straight out of Q-Branch.
Soon after this, in "From Russia With Guns", Natalya (the friendly neighbourhood KGB Officer) tells you that you have to meet her KGB contact, Agent Sergei, a reference to Anya's man in TSWLM.
Later, once you escape from Ponsonby, the British Secret Service is out in force, complete with a veritable army of Aston Martin DB5's, with registration plate "006". The very next mission is called "On Natalya's Secret Service".
Once you get the Takoshima (the city formerly known as Tokyo), you encounter many ninjas, the spiritual leader of whom is called Dr. Go, a friendly, if bloody irritating little man who looks just like YOLT's Blofeld, but with an eyepatch. He gives you the passcode to get into the KGB base inside the volcano, Mt. Seiyuki: "Eye Love Ewe". Then, in "You Only Live 137 times" (a reference to the fact that you are Cryptosporidium-137, in theory - I'm always up to about Crypto-180 or something), you get into the base, and escape through a cave that leads to the sea.
Also, the title screen has a girl's silhouette run on, point a gun, and run off.

I didn't notice this until I became a big fan of Bond, just last year. But I've been a Beatles fan since I was eight.

But otherwise, I love Get Smart. The theme song reminds me of James Bond at the very end; right before Max goes into the telephone booth in the title sequence.

To tell you the truth, I was a Get Smart fan long before I fell in love with Bond.

I'm a Buffy fan and I remembered that episode. Some of the lines were memorable.

"Moonraker? Where the gondola turns to a hovercraft. It's retarded! Besides Moore had no edge"

"I think Timothy Dalton should win an Oscar and bash Sean Connery in the head with it!"

And let's not forget the classic Star Trek DS9 episode "Our Man Bashir" a holodeck adventure it saw Doctor Julian Bashir spending time in a James Bond style holodeck adventure, he is join by Garak who is a real spy and finds the fantasy a little distastefull, when an acident sees other crew members trapped within the game it becomes a real life and death struggle.
It spoofs all of the 60's spy cycle with great names like Dr. Hipocrates Noah, Missy Lovesit, a cigar with knock out gass, an eye patch wearing henchman, a collapsable gun hidden in the heal of a show and more...

It should be noted that one of Star Trek DS9's producers started his work in TV on the Man From UNCLE and as a nod to that show Garak the spy worked as a tailor to conceal his true occupation...while a listing of locations on the DS9 Station included the name of the tailor's from UNCLE.....

I'd call the DS9 episode more a riff on Flint than Bond as Bashir had the secretary/personal assistant and the home armory but that is niggling. Certainly a fun episode.

In Destroy All Humans!, when you buy your first upgade to the flying saucer, Pox says, "Here are the keys. Do be careful with this, double-oh... um, I mean, Crypto..."

I remember back in the early 1980s one Thursday night I was flipping the channels during a commercial break as I was watching the TV show Simon & Simon on CBS. Well, I came across a commercial on ABC for their showing of Goldfinger that Sunday night. I was very excited and then went back to Simon & Simon. The one Simon brother Rick was getting a rubdown from a very attractive masseuse and she asked him what his name was. Before he answered, and keeping in mind the commercial which I had just seen, I blurted out "Bond. James Bond." Sure enough, that was exactly how he answered her!
