Does anyone think that the technician could be the new Q?

I hope not (although, not having read the script, I've no idea who this character is), since "NO Q IN CASINO ROYALE" was always one of the film's biggest selling points for me. I'd hate it if they went back on that. Plenty of time to introduce Q and Moneypenny in the next one.

I do believe Q branch is briefly mentioned in the script and going by the casting info this "technician" is a lady. Q'ute anyone? I know probably not but it may a very subtle reference and who knows where they may go with this in future films.

My understanding was that there are a couple of occasions within the film where backroom techie types are called on to fill in for what is normally the armourer/quartermaster role. I don't think any of them are envisioned as recurring characters.

As I understand it, the technician mentioned is one of the nurses at MI6 when Bond calls having been poisoned. A very minor role indeed I would imagine.

Well, the technician who implants the tracer is definitely a man from some of the footage that has been made available from filming in The Bahamas. The technician I was referring to is the character played by Rebecca Gethings, who I understood to be one of the nurses (as I mentioned above). It just seems that there are a lot of minor backroom MI6 staff featuring in this movie. As for whether any of them will be reoccurring, perhaps, but not on any significant scale.

Oh well. That is kinda good. I would rather Q be brought back as Q branch and have them send over techies to give Bond his new toys rather than a character called Q returning.
