DECEMBER DRAFT
Moderator’s note: Please do not post script segments in these forums.
THE CLIP
LE CHIFFRE: Welcome, Mr. Beech - or is that Bond? I'm a little confused.
BOND: Well we wouldn't want that, would we?
The revised version is superior, I think.

The best line in the film (imo) is when Bonds pissed off in the Casino and orders a martini. "Shaken or stirred?" asks the bartender. The line that follows is the best.EVER.
Go on old boy, please put me out of my misery (I haven't read the script).

Excellent! With 44 years of cinema history behind it - and the audience knowing how particular Bond always is about his drink - that one will bring down the house!!
I'm much obliged.

Also, I think that Mikkelsen looks quietly threatening as Le Chiffre in the casino scenes. The black suit adds a hint of concealed menace.
With every video that comes out, I think there's more and more cause to celebrate that the filming seems to be justifying the potential that was clearly in the December 2005 draft.

That's just what this series needed. It does get me a little worried though. This is such a big change from the previous Bonds, no Moneypenny, Q etc. I just think it won't seem so much like Bond.
Bond has become very passe - and DIE ANOTHER DAY was just one giant cliche that did nothing to dispel that belief. If anything, it just cemented the idea that Bond has nothing new to offer in everybody's mind. Sure DIE ANOTHER DAY was a success (though nowhere near the big success people make it out to be - worldwide, it had less admissions than GOLDENEYE or TOMORROW NEVER DIES), but it would have been all downhill from there to just go one with the way things were. It would be just like when the series descended into absolute dismal B.O. takings as the public got bored with Bond in the 80s.
To escape the idea of the cliche, Bond needed reinventing. He needed to go somewhere else to restore interest in the character, to convince people that he had something else to offer. Something needed to say, "This isn't just another Bond movie."

I accuse the writing team, and perhaps the producers. There was nowhere left to go but back. And it looks very promising.

I agree, and thought I respect Broz as a man, from my encounters with him (no, I didn't shag him), I say his 007 adventures had nearly buried the character (thought not his fault, he was more Bondian, as I envision Bond to be, in Thomas Crown or Tailor of Panama), killing all the uber cool image of Sean's Bond, turning it into a travesty. (I mean, saved by the bell ???).

This is my first post having been a fan of the site for many years
and I totally agree with you Stamper, sometimes I think the producers &
writers loose sight of what a fantastic & complex character James Bond is
returning to the source was the only way to go.

So, getting to business. Do you think that there will be much more video extras on the DVD release of Casino Royale? I mean, we've already seen numerous vids on the making of the film, so I was just curious as to what additional videos it could provide. What do you think?

Well, that was a really great line wasn't it? It shows that the producers know what they are doing and know what details to focus on. Actually, that thing with Bond's drink in Dr No to Die Another Day was really irritating and I'm glad it's gone. Just imagine, Brosnan's films would be much better without it.

Well, to be honest, Bond never ordered it "shaken, not stirred" in DAD, he just said "Pleny of ice, if you can spare it." And so what if the lines not in this film, it's not that big of a deal, afterall Roger Moore's Bond didnt say it in seven films and I'm sure you're ok with those films.
