All parties deny wrongdoing as cause of 2006 blaze

Not sure where to put this (but move this if needs be), but I suppose it's still just about relevant to CASINO ROYALE. There's a massive fire at Pinewood Studios, and the 007 stage is ablaze. More information here:

That's awful, I sure hope that isn't where they store all the completed film.

BBC News 24 trailed it, but the Middle East is getting all the air time at the moment, as is Sky.

Jeez I hope not! :) Hopefully they take precautions for that sort of thing, but I suppose time will tell.

I've just seen pictures from a helicopter flying over Pinewood on BBC News 24 in the UK, and the roof looks absolutely mangled, as if it's caved in. Still appears to be a fair amount of smoke rising.

Latest news is that there were two loud bangs, but people in the area thought it was just a normal stunt from filming. The smoke could be seen from about 10 miles away as well. Apparently they were de-rigging the set at the time, and no filming was taking place. Black plumes of smoke still rising from the 007 Stage, but it appears to be dying down.

Horrible news for Pinewood, but hopefully will have minimal effect on CR as it is in post-production (or at least I certainly hope so!)...

Casino Royale should be fine, it's safe in post production by now.

And as for Pinewood.... "The insurance company is *never* going to believe this!"

Good that no one was hurt and that the film has wrapped already.

Man you'd think after the last time it burnt to the ground that they'd keep all the flammable materials as far away as possible from the 007 Stage.

:P The insurance company meanwhile claims the 007 set has been deliberately set fire to. Several people at the Pinewood area have witnessed an old man running five minutes before two explosions occured at the stage. Some say he was cursing with a heavy scottish accent. One of the security guards claims to have seen a "very old, but fit man with a beard" yelling "I should have done this 40 years ago, but it is never to late for anything, do you hear me!", but could not catch him running by being simply not fast enough. A spokesman of Scotland Yard confirmed they're after a scottish born man, 75 years old of age, with initials S.C. :)

Let's hope all the filming was completed on that set. Even though most of the stuff had wrapped on CASINO ROYALE, sometimes there's some second unit filming going on.

With CGI, they can easily do reshoots. Ask George Lucas

This is very sad news, especially since this happened before. :)

It is good to know though that filming has already been completed and that nobody was hurt. I wonder if they are going to rebuild the stage once again.

BBC radio news just confirmed that filming on Casino Royale has finished, and the blaze is not expected to affect the movie's release date. :)

:) Could it be? They have seemed to be going way over the top about the whole thing, but to destroy the beloved 007 Stage at Pinewood??

One thing that I do like about that picture that JCRendle posted is if you notice "Albert R Broccoli"'s name still remains.

If EON's going to reboot the franchise I dont see why they wouldnt want to rebuild the 007 Stage. Maybe they can get the same guys who did it last time.

OMG that's awful - sad to see history repeating itself, seeing Pinewood has already suffered a blaze like this before. I'm just glad that no-one was hurt, and that the release date won't be affected.

A fire does sound rather drastic, even to Craig Haters... plus its the wrong moment, if you wanted to halt production you'd do it whilst the film was in production rather than after it. not that i'd know anything about that, of course!! lol.

I would imagine that the 007 stage will be rebuilt as it's one of the largest and most prestigious in Europe, plus it's been home to many other productions alongside Bond.

Does anyone know what started it?
