Covering one of the action sequences in the film
Title pretty much says it all- there's a new video on the UK site showing a bit more of the stairwell fight. Very nice it looks too.

I like it, this seems like the first physical Bond film we're going to have in quite some time. Nothing against Pierce (as it wasnt his fault) but his Bond never got into any interesting fights past Goldeneye's: Bond/Trevalyan match up.

Good to see that CR will have a quality fight scene. Did I mention I'm excited about this film?

That was a shame too since the Bond/Trevelyan fight was one of the best in the series. I think that Pierce did show flashes of having what it took to be a great Bond, but sadly, it just never fully materialized for me. I will say, though, that I wish he had gotten the chance to have more fight scenes like the one in GE because he did very well with that one.
But, back to the topic, this video was fantastic, and I think that you're right when you say that this looks as though this will be the first physical Bond film that we've had in a while. From looking at it, though, I wouldn't be surprised if it was the most physical film in the entire series.

It's not as if the Bourne movies invented brutal hand to hand combat for the screen or something. If anything, they only served to remind EON of how exciting James Bond was in the train fight in FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, the teaser to THUNDERBALL, and all through ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE. I see no correlation between the fights in the outlandish and fun TRANSPORTER movies and CASINO ROYALE.

I don't know why you cite the Transporter movies, which feature tons of fake, obviously wire-fu stuntwork and nonsense. The Transporter films have no relied on brutal fight scenes. Bourne? Yeah. However the fights in the Bond films you mentioned above are not even close to the fight scenes in the Bourne or Transporter films. Those were brutal and savage fights.
Actually, I think it could be said that CASINO ROYALE is just meeting the overall trend of more brutal fight scenes altogether (as displayed in everything from 24 to BATMAN BEGINS). It's about time, too, since I don't think I could take one more lame-Which is what it seems that Casino Royale is mimicking.

Well, there's barely any similarity between the fights of CASINO ROYALE and the stuff in the Transporter flicks, so I think it's a false comparison. Bond is certainly buying into a trend, but I don't see any specific connection to THE TRANSPORTER (and even less connection to TRANSPORTER 2).The reason I cite Transporter is that the film was very popular with teenage boys. The movie did not do well theatrically. But it sold well on DVD, apparently teenage boys love it (as well as the Punnisher). And that's the audience that EON apparently is trying to reach with Casino Royal.

I would argue that any Bond movie that didn't appeal to teenage boys would be a mistake.Yes there were wire scenes in the Transporter. But it's a falacy to pretend that all of them were. And the fights in BB weren't all that much to begin with. Which is a common complaint.

Since I can't see the video could someone post some screencaps. I really want to see that shot of Craig in his tux holding the silencer. Thanks.
