[mra]Seriously, what will a Branson cameo add to this film? Ooo... lucky us viewers, we get to see Richard Branson

it doesn t add to the action, series, character, plot. it only cheapens it and chalks another one up for a corporate cameo, plug.
Babs and Co. need to keep a lid on this. It weakens the series. I have nothing against Branson personally but why should he appear in something I truly love? He should sod off and leave well alone.
Its one strictly for the Grandma s among us.
"Ooooh look at that man, is it that lovely richard branson, Marjory, isnt he lovely"
No He isnt and he has no place in a modern spy thriller!

I can turn on the tv and see Branson doing the balloon thing, or touting his next business venture.
Why on earth would I care to see him in a movie?
Ahh for the days of Goldfinger, where director Guy Hamilton refused to have a Gillete logo put on Bond's shaving cream because it would be too crass, and when the President of the US is just called "the president", not President Kennedy or whatever.
The Bond movie reality is not ours. Putting in celebrities and talking about Saddam Hussien like CR will do takes us out of Bond's world and back into ours, and it dates the film quickly as well.
On the positive side, I suppose it will be better than Madonna's wonderful tour-de-force in DAD.

You know, for all the talk of revamping the franchise and giving this movie a more realistic tone, they sure are clinging to those same old status seeking security blankets that stunk up the Brosnan films (Judi Dench, Aston Martin, "celebrity" cameos, tacky product tie-ins like Heineken).
Let's hope the movie stands above all this drivel.

But would it even be possible to finance the film without such things?

However, I'm sure the Bond films stand at the top of this particular trait; that's why a 'series' of two films is so quick to wanting 'franchise' status - it offers ,the advertisers stability, familiarity and coninutity for their product.
But I'm zencat will be better placed to corroborate how the bigger movies are financed...

I am sure Branson is very happy, as I would be, with a cameo in a Bond film. But is it really neccessary?
Hey, unless, Bond kills him in the movie? That would be fun to watch. If that is the case, can we have cameos from Simon Cowell and Tom Selleck too???

Good to see that it appears to be quite a subtle, unintrusive cameo. Think that low-key is the way to go in these things.
Agreed.
