I got the new issue of Entertainment Weekly in the mail today and it's their annual "Must List" people who are currently hot in the entertainment industry. One person on the list was professional snake wrangler Jules Sylvester who you may have seen on the talk shows or Animal Planet. His entry on the list was for his work on "Snakes on a Plane" but they mentioned that he is also provided reptiles for Casino Royale.

This is the first I've heard of this. For those who have read the script do you know if reptiles are mentioned and what their involvement is within the film.

Sebastien Foucan also made the list for his free running sequence and for touring with Madonna.

I had forgotten about that. Of course how silly of me.

No need of that.
We're already in the spoilers section.
Look at the bottom of the screen.
Anyway, has anybody heard of these reptiles in CR?

Well, if you would have highlighted the spoiler text you would have seen that your question was answered.

Glad to see this is still in the script. Should be interesting on screen.

It's possible there could be other snakes and lizards lying on tree branches and such as Craig goes running through the jungles of Madagascar.

Ah! I seem to remember now, there was something about that in the script. Bond's cover gets blown during that reptile fight or something of the kind.

Yes exactly. I guess that the reptiles will just be an example of attention to detail when dressing the scene. I imagine they may get a couple of seconds on screen before the action moves away.

Thanks for confirming that!

I thought the reptile fight was going to be realized through CGI- perhaps graphics will take over when things turn really nasty.

Perhaps EON would also use CGI if they had to film the nasty bits from the FRWL Zora vs. Vida fight in 2006 (with added glaciers of course).

Why would they resort to CGI when they can do it for real?

I'd much prefer that they find a way to keep it real. With $100 million dollars at your disposal why would they have to use graphics when it comes to a ten-second cut scene? Plenty of cobras and mongeese in the world :D

Oh... and I think we found the real reason for reptile handlers in Casino Royale.... Lounge Lizard!

We're a sensitive species. :D

But seriously, I suppose I 'misremembered' a quote from SuperHeroHype's set report of March 10:

There, we witnessed 350 extras, mostly locals and many Haitians, crammed into what used to be the hotel's former swimming pool, all watching and betting on a fight between a ferret and a snake, which would be added later.

The reptile fight shots will be 'added in' later, as in insert shots, and I somehow assumed that it would be CGI.

That attitude isn't kosher (or legal) in the entertainment industry anymore. They have to be extremely careful about animals, but I'm sure you already knew that. If this is going to be a vicious fight, they'll have to supplement it with special effects. But if they've hired a real reptile expert, they'll probably be keeping the CGI to a minimum. So I wouldn't worry.
