From all the interviews that I have seen of Daniel Craig over the years, even on British TV back in the late 90's, Craig has come across as cocky, confident and a ladies man.

When I saw him unveiled as Bond, apart from his comment thanking the Royal Navy for "scaring the  out of him", he seemed to very much enjoy being the new James Bond.

He is a well-known womaniser and he also has a reputation for being cocky, serious and anti-establishment.

I believe that, in Daniel Craig, we have an actor who is the closest to the character of James Bond in his real life.

Any thoughts???

I wouldn't call Bond anti-establishment. He's very much of the establishment, although willing to use unconventional methods to defend it.

He seems pretty close to resembling the Bond image off camera, although Lazenby fit the bill pretty well also. I still like his line about wanting to be Bond "for the bread and for the birds."

Yes, I know what you mean.

I still think Bond is quite anti-establishment for someone who works for the establishment. M16 doesn't have half the trouble with 008 or 003, as they have with 007! He has quit twice and he has been renounced a couple of times too.

As far as Craig is concerned, yes he is in it to "be Bond" and all the perks that come with that - the adulation, money and the women. I believe he also wants to play the role like no other actor has played it.

I'm a supporter of Daniel Craig, I think he looks great in the role, but I think the man doesn't have good style in real life. Craig is a horrible dresser, IMHO. I still have horrible visions of the suit he wore to the GQ awards which was nice, but completely ugly and wrong on him as was his attire for the Munich premiere. The man honestly needs a stylist or something. His hair is 7 times out of 10 horribly done. Once again the GQ awards and the Munich premiere come to mind.

Interesting point.

In interviews that I have seen in the past, he tended to wear short-sleeved shirts. But you are right, when in public recently, he certainly hasn't dressed like Bond.

So what if he doesn't dress like Bond! Actually, he should dress like Daniel Craig..if he sports the bum look, go for it! Just because he plays 007 now, doesn't mean dress like him!

Fair enough.

But I think he acts like James Bond, is life with women, and the way he walks and talks is like James Bond. Well, the way he talks is like a Northern James Bond.

Hey, that suits me, I am from the North of England too!!!

I don't think there have been any tabloid reports that Craig is gay. There was an article in one rag about the large number of gay fans he has, but so what? He's a well-built, good-looking guy---of course gay men are going to like him! He's obviously not the first actor to have played Bond that gay men find attractive.

Thought it was a rather nice suit, myself. And his hair was, by the looks of it, being grown out for Munich- so you can't really have a go at him for that. Might as well say Pierce's beard at the same event looked silly!

Doesn't matter. The latest sensationalist trend is to spread gay rumours about male celebrities under the spotlight, so I wouldn't make much of it.

James Bond is a 6'1,lean,dashing ex-public schoolboy expense account snob with a black comma of hair above the eyebrow.I would struggle to think of anyone who fits that description less than Daniel Craig.

Lol, not to worry about. Rumours like those come out every day. The last one I recall is that Superman is going to be introduced as a gay character in the upcoming movie "Superman Returns". How stupid is that? It's incredible how thirty years ago nobody would make sexual comments about the blue suit and the red cape, but now.... geez!

His attitude in interviews seems to be in the right direction. He has realised that he can't pretend in Bond (unlike Pierce), and he is being himself, which is a good first step. I think, personality-wise, he is manly enough, especially when compared to other modern day actors. Don't worry about this, we 'll have the machoer action hero in years (until Rambo IV, of course...). Slightly scouser I'm afraid, but that adds to the macho-ism.
But I 'm afraid I still think he is too ugly...

I honestly think he does look good now. The hair, tan and body do that for him.
I'll be the first one to admit I was caught by surprise when he was announced as the new Bond. I couldn't see Bond anywhere. He looked unealthy, thin, a total wimp.
But I can really see Bond now. I maintain my thesis that he only passes as ugly when he is compared to Brosnan, who is extremely good looking.
But again, Brosnan's asset was his face. Craig's is his body.
And, on his behalf, he's much more relaxed now in interviews. His first press conference in London was pretty bad and that promptly affected his reception as Bond.

he is gonna be the 'action bond'

and judging by that fight in the toilet he looks like he is fufillinghis promise..

he is very 'definite' in real life..very sure of himself...and doesn't seem to suffer fools very gladly (who does?) ...certainly all bodes well

He can't pretend in Bond? He's an actor, he pretends for a living. Brosnan is an actor too, of course he pretended to be Bond, No one is really James Bond, every actor who has played him (Playing is pretending too)or will play him in the future is pretending to be Bond. All of the actors have some of Bond's qualities in real life, some more than others, but all of them are playing a character in a film, not living Bond's life in reality.

And Craig isn't gay, but he does enjoy a good prostate exaim now and then.Purely for the health benefits of course.

I've read books and articles by former British spies who say, sometimes, it WAS just like being James Bond.

More of a FRWL-style of Bond of course....

Well, he isn't John Steed, but he is James Bond now.

His face is good, and is body too (a lot better than Brosnan):

Yes, he is a posh scouser but I think his accent still has a Northern edge to it, so he will have to do a "Bond" accent, whatever that is, along the lines of Brosnan/Dalton's.

I am from Newcastle upon Tyne, and living in Sydney, Australia.
